Republican presidential candidate and Texas governor Rick Perry said Tuesday that "it's time for us to have a serious discussion about defunding the United Nations."
After saying "I think it's time for this country to have a very real debate about foreign aid," he turned to the U.N., pointing to the Palestinian statehood push in order to criticize the organization.
"When you think about the Palestinian Authority circumventing those Oslo Accords and going to New York to try to create the conflict and to have themselves approved as a state without going through the proper channels is a travesty," he said. "And I think it's time not only to have that entire debate about all of our foreign aid, but in particular the U.N. Why are we funding that organization?"

Yes, Clairity I agree with his position on this matter. I was hoping that the space trash would land on the UN instead though.
Yeah, well, let us know when he knows for sure. Until then, we’ll ‘consider’ the corrupt, phony, pandering La Raza Rick to be full of horse manure.
Not only defund the UN but stop any aid to those countries that consistently vote against us. Let them swim and sink by themselves.
Also, be more selective in who we admit as an immigrant. We need contributors — not takers who end up in the welfare line anyway.
I’m not a perry guy, but I cheered for him tonight when he said de-fund the UN.
No reason to believe he’d actually try, let alone actually do it. Seems to me he was just grabbing for an issue.
The simple reality is that its going to take years to extricate ourselves from that mess.
Perry has little patience for true parasites - ones that don’t even pretend to symbiotically support the host.
If he wants something gone, it’s gone.
Most Americans have already “considered” it. It’s time to cut them off and kick them out!

We already have enough problems trying to control our own government. We don’t need a bunch of buffoons waltzing around the UN getting involved in our business. The UN has got to go.
It would be great to defund the UN.
Maybe we could start by making a few changes:
1. Have the delegates meet every three years for one month — sort of like a conference. The rest of the time they could meet online.
2. Move the headquarters to Atlanta where the weather is nicer and the standard of living lower.
Perry is no nonsense. Unlike the rest of the pathetic field.
Fighting the Obama Administration especially the EPA, not to mention the Drug Cartels tends to get your priorities in perspective.
