Former Herman Cain Iowa staffer joins Rick Santorum
Politico ^ | October 17, 2011 | MAGGIE HABERMAN

Posted on 10/18/2011 6:43:32 AM PDT by Cincinatus' Wife

Herman Cain's former Iowa state director, Tina Goff, has signed on to Rick Santorum's presidential campaign.

Goff is one of three Iowa staffers that resigned from the Cain campaign in June, citing Cain's unwillingness to make a serious effort in the first-caucus state ahead of the Ames Straw Poll.

"Senator Santorum has shown a tremendous commitment to Iowa and the principles our nation was founded upon. I have worked for several presidential campaigns, but none have the organization, passion, and focus of the Santorum campaign," Goff said in a statement. "This is a refreshing reminder of what voters require of candidates for the highest office in the land, and I am honored to join the Santorum team!"

Goff, who will manage operations in central Iowa for the Santorum campaign, worked on Fred Thompson's 2008 presidential campaign and Terry Branstad's 2010 gubernatorial campaign.

Cain will make his first trip to Iowa since the straw poll this weekend, to attend the Iowa Faith and Freedom Forum in Des Moines.

Or She was not given her job back because she quit before.

Fair-weather employees are not usually looked upon with favor.

So she goes to the next guy...

Because of that, CW is grasping at straws like this meaningless article.

The thread thanks you for your summary.

and NOW as Cain is all over the news and polling well, she joins Santorum's campaign?

It beat joining the 'OccupyIowa' deadbeat crowd?

....”While Perry and Romney have built up organizations in early states like New Hampshire and Iowa that will help them get out the vote, Cain has virtually no organization in place. He has started adding staff - he’s up to a few dozen people - but he has nowhere near the campaign infrastructure of Perry and Romney. Indeed, Cain has seen more than his fair share of campaign turmoil, losing his communications director at the start of October, his top New Hamsphire staff in June and his top Iowa staff in July.”....

Well, she weighed going with the Perry campaign, but compared to Santorum, Perry has less of a chance of winning, so she chose Santorum.

Organizations don’t mean diddly squat if you don’t have anyone to vote for you. Slick Willard has his fans, but he’s not going to win Iowa. The only reason Rick Perry has any fans is because some of the folks who don’t have televisions, phones, or Internet, haven’t heard how awful a candidate he is.

Funny thing! When there are people excited about voting for you, they don’t need an ‘organization’. They BECOME an organization.

There is one HUGE difference between Herman Cain and Mike Huckabee: AUTHENTICITY.

Herman is authentic in every way. Huckster is well ... a huckster.

Odds are, the follow-up story is that either this guy is a slacker, or Cain hired a top tier guy and let this guy go.

Or maybe Cain’s just being frugal.

If Herman Cain is on a roll, why would she make the move NOW to join Santorum’s campaign?

Maybe because she needs a job and Cain doesn't want her back on his team now after she left in June?

She left his campaign in July - and he has had a staffer in Iowa since then.

I think it’s pretty funny that she joined Santorum’s campaign.

Just goes to show you the level of their loyalty.

These people are by and large young, political wonks whose resumes are a combination of political campaigns and Capitol Hill and bouncing back and forth [with maybe a little "K Street" in between][ and little else. That's about it. They are not of Herman Cain's no nonsense business league, from what I can extrapolate.

Senator Santorum should be careful--if I were him. Never hire disloyal people. It is only a matter of time that they will be lured away from Rick for some other reason, probably $$$. Many of these Madame Butterflies carry their DISLOYALTY with them wherever they go.

F* em. Don't let the door hit ya.....No January 2013 Inaugural Ball tickets for YOU!!

Goff left in June or July - and when she (and her cohort) left they complained on Facebook that he wasn’t spending enough time in Iowa (or money). They were trying to build relationships with a “few” establishment types there.

Cain had been there 21 times in two months.

The folks that took over Iowa have been doing a great job, they recognize that Cain’s base was conservative and tea party. That was the right track.

This kind of ‘kiss’ my Iowa behind attitude to get my vote is more politics as usual. Glad to see Cain didn’t buy into it. One more reason to like him.

This individual Goff’s online profile on “LinkedIn” shows a cavalcade of endorsements and recommendations from previous employers such as Gov.Brandstad staff and Fred Thompson staff and community staff. But not one single RECOMMENDATION from either Herman Cain himself or any of her former colleagues in the Herman Cain campaign during her short, 12 weeks as a part of that effort. She could not hack it. I call “loser” on the spot, and wish good luck fleecing the next candidate that comes along. Good riddance and good luck.
