The Justice Department is accusing the Republican congressman who is leading an investigation into "Operation Fast and Furious" of "mischaracterizing evidence" and "maligning" federal law enforcement officials by questioning Sunday whether the FBI was trying to cover up the existence of a third gun at the scene of Border Patrol agent Brian Terry's murder last year. "The FBI has made clear that reports of a third gun recovered from the perpetrators at the scene of Agent Terry's murder are false," the department said in a statement Monday. So why doesn't "the department" show up at Issa's hearing, and say, under oath, that he's full of sh1t. Then they can "characterize" the "third gun" properly.

I'm sure they have a perfectly logical explanation for why Officer Terry wasn't killed by either of the two weapons admitted to be present.

Trying the case, or the congressman, on liberal Sunday talk shows just doesn't cut it, except inside the Beltway.

Issa was asked about some of his concerns and unresolved matters. He said they were provided with evidence labeled gun #2 and gun #3, and that it suggests there is a gun #1, which they aren’t seeing.
I don’t find that unreasonable. Who starts numeration with the number 2? Abbott and Costello?
