Just saw an apoplytic demise of coffee by the reporters on CBS 11 Dallas around 4:54 CDT, stating that according to Starbucks "scientists" that the coffee bean will be extinct in 20 years, to guess what, global warming.
Whenever I hear "global warming", I trust Adam Smith.
Oh , didn't we hear that bananas were going to be gone by 2010 in 1995.
BS. People will be growing coffee in huge indoor greenhouses if need be.
DEARGODNOTHECOFFEE!
In the news, the world will end at 10:00, details at 11:00...
Call the station back and tell them bullish** is going to be extinct by the end of next year. Let us know what they say .
OH BS.
About half the coffee is grown at high altitude at cool temps. If there was global temp increase they would just start growing valley coffees at high altitudes.
Besides, who says coffee might not grow better with warmer temps, I mean we would have a longer growing season.
Or maybe the Smokey Mountains will become the world’s leading coffee producing region.
Juan Valdez and his burro will lose their place on the can to be replaced by Bubba Pruitt and his pickup.
To borrow loosely from Airplane!
Spokesman: “There’s a giant meteor headed straight for Earth, that will destroy the planet.”
Concerned Citizen: “Are you telling us everything?”
Spokesman: “No, we’re also running out of coffee.”
“AAAAAAAAAAAAAAGHHH!!!!!”
Polar Bears are gonna be pissed!
TT
global warming nuts go even more nuts, try to hit people where it really hurts LOL
I trust you are not making fun of my pickup!!!
Oh , didn’t we hear that bananas were going to be gone by 2010 in 1995.
No, just that they were going to be electrical...
Starbucks must be planning to raise their prices again and are inventing the justification.
The company with over priced, over roasted battery acid.
So drink up!
I wonder where they grow iced coffee.
Past periods of warming in Earth’s history are called optimums because everything grew so well.
All your coffees are belong to us!
Green Mountain Coffee Roasters (the Keurig people) are tripling their production plant so I guess they don’t have smart “scientists” like Starbucks.
Well, of course that “prediction” assumes - and we all know the associate litany accompanying that word - moving coffee plantations to more salubrious climes that, lo and behold, might just produce even better/more flavorful coffee !
OTOH the “prediction regarding bananas” might just be almost true; just not solely due to “climate change”. Bananas are cloned and a long-time pest afflicting their cultivation is making increasing inroads in traditional growing areas.
I’m always amused that those proclaiming “science” in support of their arguments often have so little knowledge of it ! >PS
