Now I see what happened. The statistics you posted are per 1M, not per 100K, the more usual method. You have to multiply by 10.

On that basis, the Honduras murder rate in 2006 was 462, about 2.5 times that of Turkey in your stats.

I think our attempted but luckily somewhat ineffectual interference in Honduras was shameful, but it doesn’t really explain everything going on there. One stat I ran across showed the Honduras murder rate in 1999 as 1540/M. Somewhat effective attacks on the drug gangs in Mexico and Colombia means they’ve moved much of their operation to Central America. Crime has gone up in all of these countries, which are much smaller and have fewer resources to fight back than Mexico or Colombia.

I also find it ignorant and short-sighted to blame the crime and murder rate on FnF. Doing so says the Cause of the crime is the availability or presence of guns. This is the argument of every gun control advocate since time began. It says the crime in Honduras, Mexico, etc. is caused by inadequate gun control.

Is that really the argument you want to make? Extrapolating it to the USA means our “gun crime” is also the result of inadequate gun control, which if implemented would stop the crimes.

No, but in the case of the "walked guns" to Honduras, they were sent there for some reason. Where did they go, and why were we even involved. Was it to destabilize Honduras? Was it to go to supporters of Mel Zelaya? I think Obozo sees this as payback time for Honduras because they supported the U.S. policy in the past, as opposed to those of the Sandanista's in their neighbor, Nicaragua.

Our current administration has at every step supported the Commies. In every case. They try to hide this, but an honest evaluation in every case leads to that conclusion. This mess in Honduras is going to be Der Hilderbeast's undoing, and possibly that of Obozo. Think about it. There are reports of between 1,200 and 2,000 weapons "walked" to a small country like Honduras. I am also sure that weapons were readily available in Honduras before this. All free citizens should be able to defend themselves, but criminal organizations are quite another thing. So, why were they "walked"? Who received them?

I have friends in Honduras who told me that Mel Zelaya had planes fly out of his "operation" daily and that the cargo was drugs. This was prior to his removal as President of Honduras.
