MATAMORAS, Pa. — Billionaire Cablevision founder Alan Gerry is unimpressed with the Wall Street protesters calling for more taxes on wealthy Americans.

"There are always people against something. I can understand people are frustrated," Gerry said Wednesday night.

He spoke at the Pike County Chamber of Commerce dinner at the Best Western Inn, Hunts Landing in Matamoras.

Gerry gave a brief address, thanking the chamber for the honor of being asked to speak. Later, during a question-and-answer session, someone asked his thoughts on the current feelings of resentment toward the wealthy going around the country.

"I didn't see a lot of real people out there," he said, referring to Occupy Wall Street protesters. He called them professional complainers, using an expletive. "I don't think you saw people who were out of work on the street. It was people collecting welfare checks and frustrated trust fund babies."

This "eeeevil" billionaire Alan Gerry had the business experience and expertise to to transform the muddy farmland that was Woodstock into a performing arts center that consistently draws in big acts from the past and present, and actually turns a healthy profit. This after years of failed attempts by some ex-hippies trying to relive the glory days of Woodstock only to fail miserably.

Right on! I like this Gerry guy. However he is being so kind. I would have called them all what they truly are useful idiots & tools.

Exactly. Poeple who are genuinely down and out are actually out there or on the internet networking like crazy trying to bring something, anything home rather than sit outside in the freezing cold making fools of themselves and blasting at people who are still gainfully employed and living a whole lot more responsibly.

Anyone remember Al Capp, cartoonist who created Li’l Abner?

In the cartoon somewhere around the ‘60’s, Capp had a fleabag looking bunch of “students” running about carrying signs that said “SWINE”.

“Students Wildly Indignant about Nearly Everything”.

I have the impression that the Occupy bunch could use that as their motto.

I had forgotten that. Al Capp was often brilliant in his social commentary. And Walt Kelly’s Pogo, of course.
