I was there. And more importantly, so were hundreds of blacks! Over the past thirty years I have attended many conservative political events in Memphis and throughout Tennessee. There were more blacks there today than I’ve ever seen for any other conservative event in this state.
I am not onboard with a national sales tax, but that was a barn burner of a speech!

I can’t even imagine Romney or Perry having the thought processes, much less the communication skills, to come up with a message such as this one.

Oh, forget about the article! Read through the thread for the pros and cons, if you’re interested and missed it.
I don’t love the sales tax component either, but when you take into account the reduction of embedded taxes, most of us will be better off. Moreover, there is absolutely nothing to prevent congress from enacting a 9% national sales tax right now while leaving the income tax system as it is.
I prefer the Fair Tax to 9-9-9, but he has proposed this as an intermediate step to get us from the current system to the Fair Tax. 9-9-9 may be a good way to get us there.

He certainly has an “it factor” that no one else in this race has. Sarah Palin has that same kind of charisma, but she cannot speak like Herman Cain. I like her, but at times she uses tortured syntax. Fred Thompson is dripping with charisma, but his campaign was a real clunker. But I have heard him give some barn burner speeches.
