I never said it was offensive.

I frankly don’t find any symbol offensive but some do. I was just pointing out that a private corporation has the right to implement a uniform policy and allowing one employee to wear a certain pin will result in having to let all employees wear their choice of pin.

If the company instituted either policy you cite, I would also support it.
1) It’s their right as a private company to tell employees exactly how to dress.
2) It’s an employee’s right to decide whether or not to work for a given employee. This guy certainly did.

I’d also point out that the young man indicated the hotel flies a giant American flag out front.

I can see your side that it's a privately owned business and they can make their own employee rules.

OTOH, if what was stated upthread is true and Marriott Hotels gave all employees a flag pin after 9-11, then they can't very well tell those employees not to wear them. That makes no sense.
