U.N. proposes euthanasia as right to health (it was only a matter of time)
One New Now ^ | October 12, 2011 | Charlie Butts

The United Nations is debating injecting euthanasia into the right to health and is considering a new treaty on the rights of the elderly to end their own lives for the benefit of society.

At recent U.N. meetings on the issue of aging, it was reported that advanced age impacts the ability to exercise recognized rights and that it is a case of patient autonomy to decide to end life. The Holy See representative at the Human Rights Council said his delegation took strong exception to this argument. The idea is also not being well received by others who respect life.

Donald Thompson of the Christian Medical Association tells OneNewsNow that he objects to euthanasia being described in this way. “The term is sounding more and more like convincing ‘responsible citizens' to do their part to unburden society by ending their own lives,” he said. “The phrasing of euthanasia as 'autonomy' just does not make sense. Individual autonomy does not apply when someone is being pressured to do something.”

He says that under discussions of the treaty so far, the elderly would be pressured by their children, doctor, or society to end their own lives. However, Thompson believes some of the most productive years of individuals' lives are in their sixties and seventies. He raises the question of who decides at what age people become more of a burden than others think they are worth: "Is it the United Nations? Is it one of these many countries that have gone bankrupt because of wasteful spending? Is the next step to recommend euthanasia to anyone with a chronic disease?”

He says it is an incredibly slippery slope that seems to have no end -- and he is alarmed by it. That slippery slope, he argues, began in 1973 when abortion was legalized to kill babies in the womb. At that time, critics who said it would lead to euthanasia were loudly told they were wrong.

first it's a right, then it's an expedient.

persuasion >> coercion >> force.

Then in a few years: The United Nations is debating injecting euthanasia into the right to health and is considering a new treaty on the rights obligation of the elderly to end their own lives for the benefit of society.

Even the phrase "benefit of society" is chilling. If they really were arguing over an individual right to suicide, it would have nothing to do with the "benefit of society".

.....The United Nations is debating injecting euthanasia into the “right to health” and is considering a new treaty on the “rights” of the elderly to end their own lives for the benefit of society......

Patriarch Pavle of Serbia, whom many (including me) believe will be glorified as a Saint of the Orthodox Church in the next several years, began his Patriarchate at age 76, and ended it at age 95 when God called him to Himself.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Patriarch_Pavle_of_Serbia

There are many other examples throughout Church and secular history, e.g., Ronald Reagan.

The mentality that one becomes “disposable” at a certain age, and must be “terminated” in order to “save costs” or “make way for the young” is intolerable!!!! And in our own country, miscreants like obama, Daschle, and the vile “bioethics” center in Hastings-on-Hudson New York espouse this view. The same miscreants back abortion, often also to “save costs” or “save the Earth”.

Note how the UN uses the language of “rights” to push euthanasia. Euthanasia is yet another “human rightser” scam, just like the evil “human rightser” plots to destroy the Serbian people!!

Let God decide when one dies, NOT some government death panel or UN agency!!!!

What can I say? I am heartbroken for all the elderly and ill in the world - who fiends in human form want to kill off; by couching their murder in so-called "human rights" terminology. Life is more than flesh and blood - the Author of all life has a plan for every soul - the meaning and purpose of human life transcends every material or utilitarian agenda or purpose! To stand up for Life is to stand up for the Author and Source of all Life.

Prayer for Those Who Are Terminally Ill

Lord Jesus, you healed so many people during your public ministry. I bring before you now, in prayer, all those who are terminally ill -- those afflicted with cancer, AIDS, and other illnesses.

Look lovingly and compassionately upon them. Let them feel the strength of your consolation. Help them and their families to accept this cross they are asked to carry.  Protect them from euthanasia, Lord.

Let them see you carrying their cross with them, at their side, as you once carried yours to Calvary. May Mary be there, too, to comfort them.

Lord Jesus, I know and believe that, if it is your will, you can cure those I pray for (especially N.). I place my trust in you. I pray with faith, but I also pray as you did in Gethsemane: your will be done.

Bless us, Lord, and hear my prayer. Amen.

Kind of cool, now the government and doctors will tell you it is ok to die and side with you when on drugs, so to speak, so you cough up your money to uncle UN-sam.
