So Darden says “Like all Americans we have nothing but the utmost respect and admiration for the American flag and everything it symbolizes, and we welcome anyone who wishes to bring the flag into our restaurants.”

To my fellow freepers who don’t think this is anything to get worked up about - the above statement would NOT have happened if someone didn’t get worked up about it.

Seems they do NOT have a policy about banners after all. It’s also a good idea to CHALLENGE what doesn’t sound right.

Just my two cents

Ok, now that they have changed their stance and have apologized for it, will the Freepers here change their stance and patronize the establishment?

Of course not!

They did something wrong and there is no forgiveness!

So the sound and fury over a perceived insult was no such thing after all. It was about people needing to feel outraged about something.

Anything.

Just like liberals who are always outraged over whatever they can twist into an insult.

We complain about political correctness, but we have our own form here. Something “insults” us, we rage about it. Something “offends” us, we call for a boycott.

These are the seeds of political correctness. Don’t we see that our hyper-sensitivity and need to be victims is just as disgusting as when it is exhibited by “the other side”?
