Perry backers willing to overlook debates
Globe Gazette ^ | oct 7, 2011 | James Q. Lynch

Coming off less-than-impressive performances in recent debates, Texas Gov. Rick Perry seemed to redeem himself Friday in front of a crowd of more than 300 Republicans looking for a winner to back in the Iowa precinct caucuses.

Perry wooed the crowd, complimenting Iowans on their prominent role in choosing the party's nominee, and promised that as president he would make putting Americans back to work his "one overpowering mission."

His audience Friday night was willing to look beyond those debates.

"He hasn't been quite as good as some," acknowledged Rick Walters, an Iowa City Democrat who recently switched his registration to the GOP, "But we've got a debater in the White House and look where it's gotten us."

Royce Phillps, mayor of Tiffin and a former Johnson County Republican Central Committee member, thinks Iowa Republicans will look beyond the debates and judge Perry on his overall performance.

If they do, Phillips said, Perry will win the nomination over former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney "and if unemployment next year is anywhere as high as it is now, Perry beats (President) Obama."

Most on the right of Attila the Hun would overlook his debate performance and still prefer him over Obama. What’s to argue with that...?

Was he introduced by a mega church preacher deriding other religions?

Perry didn’t choose who will introduce him, the organizers did. The Perry campaign came out and said he doesn’t agree.

*snip*
He said Romney’s religion did not bother him but “I do know that it’s an issue with a lot of Southerners.”

*snip*
But does Cain have a point or is he just trying to gain attention at the expense of another candidate’s beliefs? Or has the Atlanta businessman simply voiced what many feel to be true but were too politically correct to give it voice?

http://news.yahoo.com/herman-cain-says-romney-cant-win-because-hes-211300999.html

I guess the fella that introduced Perry is just one of those Southerners that Cain mentioned. But as stated— Romney’s religion doesn’t bother Perry, either. I guess that is something Cain and Perry share in common.

He still won't be able to overcome his record on illegal alien invaders.
It may be a single issue but it is a BIG issue and enough to make him less palatable than other candidates.
I feel sorry for all the many many Perry people assigned by the campaign to flood Free Republic with all this futile Perry spin--I really do.
But unless Perry convincingly repents and assures us he is not just another open borders RINO, he cannot win—except in Texas that is.

I suggest that everyone read the following report about Texas Border Security:

http://www.texasagriculture.gov/vgn/tda/files/1848/46982_Final%20Report-Texas%20Border%20Security.pdf

It was written by two military experts who each have extensive experience. The report seems long, but one can get the meat of it by reading pages 9-15.

Note the recommendations.

How to improve Texas border security:

Step #1 — Remove La Raza Rick from the Governorship.

Step #2 & #3, see Step #1.

THIS JUST IN Perry now fifth in NH. His wife told him he was a loser and
his handlers advised him there WAS one way to reestablish himself with voters:

"I hate all you illegals. You're all lawbreaker plotting to take back parts of the
US. In state tuition? What in state tuition? You'll get nothing from me but agita."

THE UNDERSTATEMENT OF THE YEAR: "He hasn't been quite as good as some (at debating)," acknowledged Rick Walters, an Iowa City Democrat who recently switched to the GOP.

Perry's spinmeisters are manipulating voters to resurrect him after Perry's debate flops. They're taking no chances. Perry's canned remarks are read verbatim off a paper, written by his handlers, rehearsed 24/7, and focus-grouped to the nth degree.

Perry is cramming for the next debate, harder than he did for the "Poultry Feed" exam at Texas A&M.

=========================================

LEST WE FORGET Perry's most memorable quote--- what Perry thinks from the bottom of his heart (/snic): “If you say that we should not educate children who have come into our state for no other reason than they’ve been brought there by no fault of their own, I don’t think you have a heart.”

I’ll bet that on the La Raza Rick Farmstead, even the chickens are undocumented. But their chicks get taxpayer-supported feed.

From that report:

Texas Joins the War

Because Texas is the frontline in this conflict and because its citizens and institutions are most affected, the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) has developed a comprehensive military-like operational campaign against narco-terrorists. This effort is still growing and
changing in response to an adaptive and ruthless enemy that still harbors an intense desire to take its campaign into the United States. Five years of effort to curtail narco-terrorist intrusion has given the Texas DPS and its state and local partners enormous and hard-won experience in the art and science of fighting the southwest border war.
Beginning in 2006, Texas began a series of high-intensity, sequential, short-duration operations that resulted in crime reductions ranging from 25 percent to as high as 75
percent as smuggling operations decreased. Later, the state expanded and lengthened these operations by increasing the patrol presence along the Texas-Mexico border.
Governor Perry was able to achieve this expansion of effort by leveraging various discretionary grants to increase local and state patrol capacity along the border through
overtime payments and the purchase of communications and surveillance equipment as well as new vehicles and weapons. The governor also committed Texas military forces to support these operations. To gain support from the citizenry, in 2007 the Texas Legislature created the Border Security Council (BSC) charged with advising the governor regarding the allocation of discretionary
state homeland security funds. The BSC held a series of public hearings and received testimony from business owners, law enforcement officers, local elected officials and private citizens and then produced a comprehensive report and recommendations on border security issues for the governor and Texas Legislature.

Romney and like-minded big government Republicans sabotage the future of not just the GOP and conservatism, but the US. In the long term, they pose the greater danger to the Republic. Romney opposed the two most successful conservative policy efforts of the last 30 years... the Reagan policies of the 1980`s and the Contract With America of the 1990`s.

A Essay on Mitt Romney. Its damning.
