Cain brings novel approach to GOP campaign
HOUSTON CHRONICLE ^ | 10/6/11 | JOE HOLLEY

Herman Cain, the man who has pulled even in the GOP presidential polls with Texas Gov. Rick Perry was in the governor's backyard Thursday, signing books in College Station and The Woodlands and giving a speech in Houston.

The former pizza executive has climbed from interesting also-ran to top-tier candidate in the last few weeks, buoyed by strong debate performances, a congenial public persona and conservative voters' reluctance to give their heart to the long-running frontrunner, Mitt Romney.

In the latest Washington Post/ABC News poll, Cain is tied for second place with Perry with 17 percent of the vote. Romney leads with 25 percent.

"...pizza executive..." Watch for a lot of this in the future from the MSM. He won't be a "businessman," he'll always be a "pizza guy..."

I caught that also. Cain is, literally, a rocket scientist but you won't hear the leftist media ever say that. To them he'll always be the pizza man.

Even Perry don’t wear them Boudreaux hats.

He wears the hat well. Reminds me of some of the trail riders who come to Houston in February for the Rodeo. Cain is going to hang around Texas for a while and is going to be at a Tea Party rally at the Gulf Greyhound Park in LaMarque on Tuesday Oct 25 beginning at 5:30. Live music, speakers and lots of fun for just $5.00.

There were a bunch of dopes today like Jack Welch who thought that Cain’s book tour in the middle of his campaign was stupid. I think it is pretty smart. While peddling his book, he can get onto all types of media outlets and introduce himself to the majority of the public who haven’t heard of him. He is very good in these interviews so I expect this to have a positive effect on his image.

Oh, yeah, he’s got a novel approach, alrighty: new taxes - including a national sales tax! - and charging an opponent of “racism” on the flimsiest of pretexts.

Sounds like a damn Dimocrat to me...

Cainn's been doing 20 interviews a day while on his "book toue."

Welch probably never heard of Talk Radio, he probably thinks the way to get to conservatives is to go on the View.

Welch should stick to business. He is brilliant at that, but politics not so much. He was a Obummer supporter last time and I have a feeling he is tickled pink about Romney now.

Larry O'Donnell is certifiably insane and he will never live this down.

I missed the Cain/O'Donnell exchange. What program was it on?

Oh, yeah, he’s got a novel approach, alrighty: new taxes lower taxes

Fixed that for you.

charging an opponent of “racism” on the flimsiest of pretexts.

Care to back that up with a quote, or do you just parrot the hearsay of others?

How novel...a GOP candidate donning a cowboy hat. Next thing you know he'll be clearing brush for the cameras.
