Is Mitt Romney Committed to Repealing Obamacare? (don't bet on it)
Forbes ^ | October 4th | Avik Roy

However, as Jeff notes, there are two subtle signs that raise questions about Romney’s commitment to repeal. The first is that, in many settings, Romney did not argue for full repeal, but merely for repealing “the worst aspects of Obamacare” (emphasis added):

President Obama’s new healthcare law imposes higher taxes, cuts Medicare, contains insurance price controls and expands the size of our federal government. It is unhealthy for America. That is why it is critical that we elect fiscally-responsible conservative leaders who will work to repeal the worst aspects of Obamacare, restore commonsense principles to healthcare, and focus on getting our economy back on track.

But which parts are the worst? And which would he preserve? Romney favors the individual mandate, easily the law’s most controversial measure, and opposes its Medicare cuts, without which the law would have carried even more fiscal risk.

Anyone but Mitt.

We need a full repeal of Obamacare.

It was a crime against democracy according to Pat Caddell.

We must right the wrong committed against the American people.

If not, we must defeat that person. IF Mitt thinks waivers to 50 states
is sufficient, he is delirious and stupid. Which i fear he is.
If that is his genius innovation...

So the American people still have to pay free abortions, birth control,
breast pumps, and $15000 subsidies to people making up to $80,000 a
year. CLASS act still there. 26 year olds still sucking off other people (other
private policy holders).

We will NOT put up with Mitt Romney.

Romney is an abomination. He does not get it.

Why we had a 63 historic election in House.

I fear he will never get it.

He will never repeal Obamacare.

Hell why the heck are we funding ANY OBamacare now with the HOuse.

We will fight. We will fight you in the media. At the ballot box.
Mitt we will fight anyone including you. We will fight until our last breath.

We will never give up. We will never surrender to OBaMACARE.

We are Churchillian in our resolve.

MItt get the heck out of the race!

There's plenty to criticize Romney for without making it up. On page 59 of his economic Plan:

“Mitt Romney has laid out a specific plan for dismantling Obamacare even without the congressional majorities required to strike it formally from the books. On his first day in office, he will issue an executive order paving the way for Obamacare waivers for all 50 states. He will then work with Congress to accomplish full repeal.

MItt Romney is a certified liar or at least a big omission teller.

In the last debate, he said in Massachusetts, nothing changed for the
91% who had health insurance.

At least one pundit said that wasn’t true because everyone’s premiums
went up. True but that’s an indirect effect.

Welcome to OBAMACARE in 2014. ALL of you Freepers will have to
fill out an IRS Schedule H, like Massachusetts., You will have to give
the government your health insurance company and your ID.

Starting in 2008, ALL MA state residents had to fill out Schedule H with
5 pages and 10 pages of instructions. We had to give the name of
our insurance company ,our ID, and fill out our income our DOB.

Why DOB? All people who owe income tax and are over 18 have to
be certified by Mass Department of Revenue.

THey don’t take kindly to not providing all information. I tried to just
sign yes I have health insurance. They not only sent me a letter 4 months
after April 15. They charged me a penalty AND late fees!!!
So i didn’t fight it. I paid the insurance penalty. Even though i had insurance.

I figure I am within my 4th Amendment rights against illegal search and
seizure.

But Mitt said nothing changed for the people who had insurance.

Mitt, Mitt!!!!!

SOMETHING DID CHANGE.

we became a socialist state. Like the Former Soviet Union.

If you can’t prove (database you get a 1099 form) then you get
up to $1100 fine.

Comrade Mitt thinks nothing changed.

Welcome to President Romney. Where you will still be forced to
give up all your personal information and money and taxes and freedom
and....

I am against the Former Soviet Union. I am against Mitt Romney.

That would be a good 10th Amendment litmus test of Romney's courage and/or beliefs. Like the title says, "Don't bet on it"...

So would you then say that the mandate for hospitals to pay for people’s healthcare if they can’t pay the hospital is just as unfair as forcing people to pay their own way by obtaining health insurance?

EMTALA the federal law forcing emergency rooms to accept everyone
was signed in 1986.

This problem is small in terms of the whole health care market,
about $40 Billion a year.

Why not have a 20 year repayment, give the IRS the power to garnish their wages for
nonpayment? That would solve the problem.

But NO. we have to have 300 million people give up their freedom.
We have to send the IRS our personal medical information.
Hey Tea Partiers sorry we leaked that you had mental problems in 5th
grade. Sorry we leaked that you had an abortion when you were 20.
So sorry about that...sorry the federal government has all that medical
information now,.

Rush Limbaugh has to certify he has health insurance. Well he self pays.
Well there is NO exception like that either in Romneycare or Obamacare.

Well I am going to fight for my freedom.

Some people, if they went to an emergency room and couldn’t pay,
would make a payment schedule with the ER.

That’s what NORMAL RESPONSIBLE CITIZENS would do.

Don’t trample on my freedom for your lack of responsibility and morality.

Go to church son and get religion.

>>>IF Mitt thinks waivers to 50 states

The reality is that there is no guarantee that all 50 states will want to waive the requirements. The most liberal states certainly will not, and I suppose states that do could always take it back. This would only be a first step, the United States congress and senate would have to pass laws to repeal it. That’s probably not going to happen no matter who is President.

good point. Maryland and Vermont definitely wouldn’t accept
a waiver.

The massive entitlement would still be valid, even if a waiver existed in
that state. We would be on the hook for $2.5 trillion over 10 years.

Look i understand people might need help buying insurance. But this
is one massive redistribution scheme. People who make $80,000 get
federal subsidies IF they are on a state exchange. An entitlement. Everyone
who qualifies gets money. No limits to the “pot of money.”
Why?

A much smaller state program or charity program would deliver better
service. And go to the neediest families down on their luck, not
$80,000 who go to Disneyworld on taxpayer dime.
