This is from a national poll before Florida's recent poll which showed Perry plummeting even further:

In early September, Perry had a 3-to-1 advantage over any other candidate among those “strongly” backing the tea party, but his support has plummeted from 45 percent to 10 percent in this group.

Perry's support among Tea Party members on Free Republic has always been near zero -- when he first declared, his supporters tried to flood the board and were bashing The Tea Party and Sarah Palin, not a very intelligent way to start. Now they are trying their hardest to bash Herman Cain, which is also not very intelligent and is definitely not working.

Rick Perry's farce of a presidential campaign is only two months old, but he has already committed more mistakes than all the other candidates combined.

The guy is obviously an imbecile and his supporters are imbeciles.

It will be very difficult for him to find new donors or gain back the support he has lost.

His campaign will be dead soon.

Wishful thinking and inaccurate.

Agreed. And he won’t endorse any of the candidates either, because they’ve all been gunning for him. I expect him to drop out before the Primaries.

Hey Perry, go back to doing what you’re best at, having a love affair with illegal aliens... we don’t need that, or you...

I guess his refusal to move away from his “Open-Border” positions has cost him dearly.

“The guy is obviously an imbecile and his supporters are imbeciles.”

Hey, now you’ve gone too far. Most of his supporters are ignorant, not imbeciles. He, however, is a moron, and it shows everytime he speaks. You’re right though, the liberals on FR are in overdrive posting all the hit pieces they can on other candidates (from blogs in “Breaking News,” no less), and trying to prop up Perry. He’s toast. He should have stayed in Texas as he said he would.

I have seen hundreds of high school teenagers argue better than Perry debates, and that’s pretty sad.

Moving the early primary window forward has short-circuited several potential runs.

SARAH is frankly the only one not running who could mount a serious challenge, now.

I concur, well, if the states keep pulling up their primary dates, he may may make it, but I see him out before the holidays. It’s all but certain at this point.

To have the obstinate view Perry does on this issue is a non-starter in this environment. Especially when jobs are so scarce for Americans. Romney has the same view that is why I am saying he's done as well.

“Perry’s support among Tea Party members on Free Republic has always been near zero —”

Interesting...just the other day on a thread stating that a significant percent of Tea Party members didn’t want Palin to run, I read that nobody knows who the Tea Party members are so they can’t be accurately polled, and therefore any poll or speculation about what they think about any candidate can’t be regarded as valid.

Perry was never anything more than an insurance policy for the Establishment, which realized that their favorite, Romney, would never win over the Tea Party types. He hired some conservative nerds to write his book and teach him phrases like "SS is a Ponzi scheme," but he couldn't explain those positions in debates because he is not really a conservative at all.

Memo to Pubbie Party hacks: give up your open-borders, "free-trade," crony-capitalist bailout crap. The conservative base and the millions of fiscally-conservative patriotic independents will not buy that shiite any more.

Why don't you list them for us, his and other candidates', so that we can do the math ourselves, instead of running off your mouth with unsupportable propaganda. (Guess what, I'm no Perry supporter.)

Yup, GOP disaster in 2012. Incumbent will be reelected, because Republicans won’t - can’t - nominate a worthy opponent.

I've seen you Perry supporters use this line often. What makes you think Perry is the only guy who would beat Romney. Hell maybe Cain will. Perry can't even beat his own record.

If Perry can come up with a tax overhaul that’s better than Cain’s, Romney’s or Huntsman’s then I think he’ll still have a chance. Perry still doesn’t have any plan, even for social security which he made an issue for himself when he called it a ponzi scheme. All he’s doing is presenting his record in Texas and fending off attacks.
