A Somerset man led area police departments on a 15-mile chase during the noon hour Monday down busy U.S. 31W, striking a police car along the way.
The chase ended when 33-year-old Dale C. Brown was subdued with a Taser, police said. He is charged with wanton endangerment, driving under the influence and receiving stolen property. The pursuit started in Muldraugh and ended at the Ring Road-Dixie Avenue intersection in Elizabethtown.
Brown was driving a Ford pickup truck bearing an Orkin logo. Police say the truck had been reported stolen.
According to a Kentucky State Police news release, the truck fit the vehicle description reported to Muldraugh Police Department in a reckless driving complaint. When Muldraugh police signaled Brown to stop, he fled, leading police on the 31W chase that covered 15 miles in roughly 10 minutes.
KSP began monitoring the pursuit at 12:11 p.m., and officers from Radcliff and Elizabethtown police departments also assisted, police say.
During the pursuit, Brown struck a Radcliff officers vehicle, pulling it out of commission, KSP said. No officers or civilians were injured during the pursuit.
When officers pinned the suspect at the Elizabethtown intersection, police say he continued to resist, resulting in an officer using a Taser.
According to KSP, Brown was arrested at 12:21 p.m. and admitted to Hardin Memorial Hospital, though police say he was not injured in the pursuit. Upon release, he will be lodged at the Meade County Detention Center.
Brown is charged with first-degree wanton endangerment, leaving the scene of an accident, reckless driving, resisting arrest, driving under the influence with aggravating circumstance and receiving stolen property. Police say more charges are pending.
The wanton endangerment, DUI and leaving the scene of an accident charges are Class D felonies, punishable by up to five years in prison if found guilty.
BTW, the guy shouting "That is awesome!" in the video is one of my coworkers, who was at Taco Bell on his lunch break.
FYI Ping
As usual everythings happening in Etown.
It is good he did not kill anyone. This is Obama’s fault.
That place sure has grown since I was there in the late 70s.
I used to drive through Etown on my way to Bowling Green hundreds and hundreds of times. When I first started my trips 65 ended there and I had to take 31.
I was at Fort Knox in the late ‘70s. Highway 31W with its three lanes was known as the “Dixie Dieway”.

There is one interesting thing about the article, it says that the chase began at 12:11 and ended at 12:21, but I saw it at 1:20. I think the reason for the time confusion is the fact that Muldraugh, where the pursuit began, is in Meade County, which is in Central Time, while it ended in E-Town, which is in Hardin County and Eastern Time.
There used to be a sign on 65 to let you know you had entered the Central Time Zone. I don’t take that route much any more so I don’t know if it’s still there.
