Federal officials confirmed Thursday that recent arrests made in Shelbyville by immigration agents were part of a nationwide operation targeting convicted criminal aliens and fugitives. U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) announced Wednesday they had captured more than 2,900 fugitives in all 50 states as part of a seven-day national "Cross Check" operation.
Verification
ICE spokesman Temple Black told the T-G late Thursday that after checking with ICE's Enforcement Removal Operations team, he could verify "that the three arrests ICE confirmed last week were part of the operation announced yesterday nationally."
*snip*
Local law enforcement and ICE were criticized after the Sept. 17 arrests took place by the Tennessee Immigrant and Refugee Rights Coalition (TIRRC), claiming the three were targeted for speaking out at a meeting on Sept. 12.

If ICE keeps this up, Holder is going to end up suing their asses. ICE is messing with his “people”.
27 up here in Duluth Minnesota.
Since we’ve known about these ICE raids for a few days, I’m surprised Holder hasn’t already come out to say something against it.
Maybe covering up “Fast and Furious” has kept him too busy to notice. ;-)
27, ay? Good goin’!
I’m surprised they only got 3 down here but then, Shelbyville is a fairly small town.
I agree. Fast and Furious is keeping him pretty busy right now. He’s already tapdancing as fast as he can. LOL!
Ok, that mental image made me LOL!
But back to the subject at hand, I figure someone in his office is bound to catch on to what ICE is doing and we’ll soon hear something from him. “How DARE they harrass and arrest those poor people who only want what America has to offer?!!”
Hey, ‘Du!
Think this will improve employment opportunities for young folks in your area?
TN passed a similar law to AZ’s earlier this year and the immigrant groups have had their panties in a wad ever since.
Why we weren’t sued by the Gov’t., like AZ was, is beyond me.
Maybe our turn is coming. Time will tell, I guess. In the meantime, we have the “immigrant rights” groups stirring the pot every chance they get.
Hey there, Jinxie!!
Well, at least three job opportunities are open. LOL! Got a long way to go. :-)
Ping!
Were any of Obamas illegal relatives caught and being deported?
LOL! I don't think any of his illegal relatives are in this area.
Now as for the other places ICE went, I have no clue. I suppose we'll hear about it if any of the illegals picked up were relatives. The way these illegals rights groups are stirring up trouble, you know they'll make a stink about something like that.
And, million of Americans who no longer understand the concept of sovereignty will say, "Okay!"
