School Dean, 2 Students Stabbed At South Gate Campus September 30, 2011
Two students and a high school dean were stabbed during a lunchtime fight at South East High School in South Gate, and the school was temporarily placed on lockdown, LAUSD officials said.
All those wounded were transported to area hospitals. One female student suffered "serious" wounds and is in stable condition, officials said, and the others sustained non-life-threatening wounds.
The assailant, also a student at the school, was not injured and has been arrested, said Monica Carazo, a spokeswoman for the Los Angeles Unified School District.
Carazo said a fight broke out between a boy and a girl about 11 a.m. during the school's lunch period.
During the altercation, the boy allegedly stabbed the girl, she said. A female dean, who is also a teacher at the school, stepped in to stop the fight and was also stabbed. A second student was then stabbed, also while trying to break up the fight.

Tsk, tsk. Didn’t these boys and girls take to heart the speech by Obama to school children the other day???? Why aren’t they studying hard to get a good education for their futures???? Obama didn’t say anything about starting fights in school and getting in trouble.
Tsk, tsk...............
More of that colorful culture we hear so much about.
The victim of the lunchtime stabbing at South East High School in South Gate died Friday evening, and another student has been booked on suspicion of murder, authorities said.
The 17-year-old girl, a senior, was stabbed in the side and back, allegedly by her estranged boyfriend. She died of complications during surgery at St. Francis Medical Center in Lynwood about 7:45 p.m., said Los Angeles Unified School District Police Chief Steve Zipperman.
It appears she was his girlfriend and they were going through difficulties, Zipperman said.
Abraham Lopez, 18, also a senior at the school, is being held without bail, Zipperman said.
