Clinton to dedicate pedestrian bridge at library
LITTLE ROCK Former President Bill Clinton is dedicating a $10.5 million pedestrian bridge and wetlands at his library in downtown Little Rock.
The former two-term president is kicking off a weekend of events to mark the 20th anniversary of the launch of his presidential campaign with a dedication of the Clinton Presidential Park Bridge and the Bill Clark Wetlands located near his presidential library.
The 2,653-foot walkway was converted from an 1899 railroad bridge and crosses the Arkansas River. It will open briefly to the public after Friday's dedication ceremony, but officially opens on Sunday.
The wetlands are named after the chairman and chief executive officer of CDI Contractors, which built Clinton's presidential library.
Okay, why are the wetlands wet?
A pedestrian bridge.
How appropriate.
Soon, that’s all we’ll be able to afford, and of course, it is what we should use since having cars would increase glow-bull warming.
I assume that having a wetland will give Clinton some sort of connection to money from the government.
Makes sense. He was a pedestrian president.
Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton will step away from her duties as wife of the Arkansas governor who ran for president long enough to deliver a speech Friday afternoon at the Clinton Center.
A highlight of the two-day Clinton fest at the Clinton Presidential Center in the Arkansan state capital will be Fridays panel discussion entitled, Reimagining the Progressive Tradition: The Clinton/Gore campaign and the Emergence of a Democratic Agenda for the 21st Century.
Panelists will include James Carville, Vernon Jordan, Al From the founder of the Democratic Leadership Council whom President Clinton credits with making his election possible and Lottie Shackelford.
Clinton is not listed as leading the discussion, but its hard to imagine the former president and now man-about-globe remaining too far in the background.
Because Clinton tore down everything that was there?!
Why the wooden walkway? So you don’t get your feet dirty walking on the ground?
I wonder if people in Arkansas resented that the Clintons did not return to Arkansas after his term as president was over. I know that the Clintons did their back room dealing for Hillary to become a senator from a state where she had never lived, so they had to go buy a mansion in New York state.
I just wonder how much time Bill and Hillary have spent in Arkansas after Bill’s term as president was done, and what people in Arkansas think of the Clintons abandoning their home state. This subject is never talked about in the MSM.
This Arkansan is happy as HELL they don’t live in the state!
No, I’m thinking Bill made the wetlands wet.
A better question would be: Because of their connection with Bill Clinton, what are they wet with?
We have one of these useless pedestrian bridges in Omaha. Appropriately named the “Bob Kerrey” bridge after another liberal spendthrift. Not sure how the one in Arkansas was financed but this one was done with federal dollars. Liberals whine that the infrastructure is crumbling, yet money goes to monuments to themselves rather than infrastructure always. The city has a huge tab coming to fix the sewers to meet federal mandates, yet they build a new baseball stadium and talk of building another government hotel. No recession in government land.
Will there be intern’s present to perform Lewinsky’s for the commemoration?
Wonderful/s
Another $10.5 million dollars of public funded Smurf.
Bridge to nowhere alert...
***Clinton invade Arkansas this weekend! ****
Will he make a pilgramige to LR Central High School and pray at the Wolworth snack counter?
Is it the bridge to the Clinton Library’s massage parlor?
