Governor Beverly Perdues recent suggestion that we suspend the 2012 elections so our Representatives can focus on getting things done has caused some to question whether she is fit to hold office. After all, if you want to preserve a wayward democratic republic, its probably not the best idea to suggest that democracy is whats driving us off course.
And ever since an audio surfaced of the North Carolina Democrats remarks, her efforts at damage control a claim that she was simply indulging sarcasm have been falling short. The audio reveals that her suggestion was rendered matter-of-factly, embedded within more than a minute of almost continuous blather, which, perhaps, leads one to believe that Perdue might be well served in the future to take a breath. It never helps when your mouth is one step ahead of your brain.
But whether the Governor was serious or just possesses the worlds worst delivery is secondary, because she isnt fit to hold office either way. It isnt, however, for the reason most critics think.
The real issue here is that Perdues suggestion reflects a common fallacy: that our legislators problem is that they simply dont have enough time to legislate. This is expressed in many ways, from the Governors concern that campaigning is a distraction to that oft-heard complaint about a do-nothing Congress.

This goes beyond what Perdue said. this is a small example of what the Democratic Party, particularly the left, think about average citizens
Ping.
For all the Supposed faults of Gov. Nikki Haley I’m more and more happy to have her as Gov. when I read about states with Rat’ Gov’s like this one!
She planted a seed, which was her intent. Now, the idea of giving congress time to rule and delay or cancel elections can grow. Other Marxists/democrats can echo this in smaller but similar ways. She’ll get a pass from the MSM on her comment but this will continue to grow.
How in the world did he ever get elected?
How in the world did she ever get elected?
Texas meets every other year for, I believe, 4 months. Less time to do mischief and I would highly recommend it to all.
We also don’t pay them spit, which seems to work out well. I recommend this too.
Every time I see this posted my response is the same:
If the Democrats had half the support they claim for their policies, this type of thinking wouldn’t be necessary.
Suspending elections is what all tyrannical police states do sooner or later. She just stated what the 0bama regime would like to happen if they could get away with it.
Perdue Chicken is all over the news today as a major crook, with she and her thieving family stealing Big Bucks from North Carolina in various scams.
Always the leftist way.
1) generate crisis
2) suspend democracy
3) consolidate power
4) disenfranchise enemies, goto 3
We should be glad this leftist has been so open about her true mindset.
Because the majority of voters in the last NC election were welfare sucking democrats who are to stupid to do anything but vote for a living (I include college professors whose salaries come from tax dollars in this category)
I doubt even her husband listens to what comes out of her mouth.
“How in the world did she ever get elected?”
Obama’s coattails, and even then, just barely. Pat McCrory is going to wipe the floor with her next year.
You hit the nail on the head; this will become mainstream in the MSM & we can say “bye-bye” to democratic USA and “hello” to USSA under Comrade Obama.
Not to overstate things, but, you have to wonder if she is fit to hold public office.
I say that because, she was elected in a free and fair election. If she does not believe in our system of free and fair elections to choose our leaders, why is she in elective office?
If she doesn’t believe in the right of voters to vote and choose our leaders, what does she believe in? Is she really that upset that regularly scheduled elections interfere with implementing an agenda?
Or is she frustrated that elections happen too often, meaning that elected officials are up for re-election and have to face the voters again?
When is she up for re-election? I think her attitudes about elections should be a major campaign issue for the GOP when she runs again.
Don’t know for certain, but would think Perdueâs comments are the probable majority of politiciansâ thoughts. This time they (the politicians) fear facing the public at the voting booth. The politicians want the public beholding to them, and the politicians want to remain the boss ceding nothing to the public.
I thought Perdue Chicken was a MD family? Same one? I remember Frank running into some political corruption of some sort.
Not certain about that anymore here in this house. With the filing fees, and the necessity to raise campaign cash from high rollers, I wonder if anything is fair regarding elections where those not politically connected are shut out of the process unless those persons wanting the office have unlimited funds of personal wealth. With all the technology available why are there fees and the need to raise funds to run. There has to be a better way (imho).
