originally they wanted to trade Bergdahl for Dr Aafia Siddiqui the Pakistani scientist so that seems to reinforce the ISI’s role in the network as described in the article. They were given Siddiqui too as I recall after her conviction but Bergdahl wasn’t handed over then so another deal must have been cut for her extradition by the Obama admin?
