Are you using "ready" to mean "wanted" or "was willing," rather than "was prepared" or "was experienced"?
Because no way did he have the experience or the preparation.
Would he have gotten it if he were more seasoned in politics and kicked around for a few more years? Would that have made him a better President?
Well, he was sort of a stealth candidate. He was elected because he'd never had to make any really tough or important decisions.
If he'd been Governor of Illinois or Mayor of Chicago, he'd have gotten more experience, but he would have made enemies. He would have had to run on a record, and his performance and the stances he took might well have made him unelectable.
Was it affirmative action that made him President or Senator? I wouldn't necessarily go there. Some people voted for him because he was Black, just as many voted for Kennedy because he was a Catholic or Carter because he was a Southerner.
Call it ethnic solidarity or luck or the power of the Chicago machine. He got as far as he did by not being experienced.

OF COURSE Obama was not “ready”, as far as that elusive quality “experience” goes, neither was he “experienced” , and he remained UN- tested at any level, as far as we know, even going back to
the literal proving-grounds of University, where those basic records remain hidden from all scrutiny.
THAT is the point.
He is an ENTIRELY COUNTERFEIT PHENOMENON, a would-be Messiah who descended from “God knows where” with no History
and NO NEED FOR ONE.
“Experience” in politics was not even a factor in his election-—all the usual “strictures” other aspirants get vetted with were thrown out the window for him and him alone.On top of that, he was granted an automatic “moral authority”, another thing he did absolutely NOTHING to earn,except being willing to play the part of Messiah and see how far down the road he could get before anybody challenged it.
Not so ironically, the “inexperience” or “unreadiness” card has already been deftly played by Obama loyalists, and has been or will be applied to everyone from Herman Cain to Chris Christie, to Sarah Palin, should she run.
There has never been a bigger scam pulled on the American people than the presentation , promotion, and election of Barack Obama, and let’s hope very large numbers of those who were gullible and naive enough to think getting in on the ground floor of making a “historic” vote by electing him, have found out a little more about themselves and the Democratic Party machine and the MSM that promoted him and DON’T elect him again.
I personally believe that if he runs he will get beaten by
the most embarrassing margin possibly in the history of American Presidential elections.The polls should be very
revealing six or eight months from now, and I think they’ll be SO hopeless that he doesn’t dare run. Chance are he will probably do even worse than the polls indicate, and the Democratic Party would do well not to make itself look as stupid as they’d have to be to ignore those polls——which is why their mode now is playing it by ear, and continuing to blithely double and triple down on this reckless and destructive Agenda, playing it for all its worth, because they don’t know how to do anything else.
How they’ll gingerly extricate themselves from Obama is going to be a pathetically predictable process to watch.
