It sure is. Even three years later, there are still people who quote from Tina Fey's SNL skits as if Sarah uttered those words herself! A large segment of our society are willing to get their news from left leaning television shows like Oprah, Maher, Letterman and Jon Stewart.
Conservatives need to start fighting back with fury. George W. Bush decided to ignore the media attacks on him and see where that got him. Judging by the way the sources for this book appear to have clammed up, it looks like Palin might be socking it to them behind the scenes with some heavy duty legal activity. Let's hope that it's true.

The most egregious such posts have been yanked by the mods. However, there is a cadre of posters here that do rely on the “Evil Palin” meme to argue she is a soulless mercenary bent on deceiving millions into believing she is running for her personal gain. Setting aside the gaping holes in logic of said meme, it nevertheless takes McGinniss’ cynical view of her character and propagates it with equal disregard for evidence. I am inclined to believe it amounts to the same thing, and that the purveyors of it here would imbibe the corresponding McGinniss bildge without the least hesitation.
Too greasy for NPR. That has to sting. McGinnis may have managed an effect precisely opposite to his intentions: to inoculate Palin against the fire-hose of slime that is headed her direction. That would be sweet justice.

VR is correct. I can’t vouch for exact numbers, but I recall the disturbance in the FR force, though whole threads were taken down when the mods realized what was going on. I even pinged one such thread with IBTTIYFTS (In Before the Thread is Yanked For Tabloid Sourcing), or something like that. I went back to my posting history after the ZOT and found no trace of my own post. I had no idea it worked like that. So yes, it really happened. No libel. Truth is an absolute defense against defamation.

I think this will have the opposite effect of what he hoped. What he’s shown is how over the top the left is. At some point these attacks backfire. You can always count on the left. They do it all the time.

I haven't bothered to pick up a book by him since that time. If nothing else this may cause people to look back at what he wrote in the past and decide he was not totally honest with them. That would be a good thing.
