If Turing had not picked up a youth for a casual sodomy encounter, he would not have been arrested and all the rest. IOW, if he had not succumbed to his temptation, he would not have gotten into trouble. The problem was not that homosexuality was considered wrong, the problem was that he gave in to his desires to have sex with a strange young man.
Well, some of us would think that being convicted and being fired from your job for a private “sodomy encounter” is rather harsh.
