People who do this sort of thing should be executed as close to the time of the event as possible. Thirteen years?

How about thirteen months after the time the person is charged.

Capital crimes should be expedited, appeals, and sentences carried out in short order.

Bump anything else from the docket, and get justice under way immediately.

I think that it should be expedited only if there is concrete proof, like this instance or in the instance of Ted Bundy. Other than that, I think that four to five years while analysts go over the evidence and ensure that guilt is irrefutable. It’s too easy to end up killing an innocent.
