Chalk up Tennessee Republican Rep. Phil Roes Tuesday morning actions to heroism: Roe saved a mans life with CPR after he flatlined in the Charlotte, North Carolina airport.
Roe, an obstetrician before he first ran for public office, was walking through the Charlotte terminal with South Carolina Republican Rep. Mick Mulvaney at about 7:15 a.m. when someone yelled out, Is anybody here a doctor? Theres a gentleman who just collapsed!
Mulvaney told The Daily Caller that Roe rushed to the mans side and began CPR immediately.
He literally had just collapsed and Phil ran over there and I believe there was a nurse in the same area and Phil was on this guy [so fast], Mulvaney said in a phone interview. I bet the guy wasnt down probably 30 seconds before Phil was taking care of him. They gave him CPR for like 5 or 6 minutes. They pumped his chest pretty good. It was work, it was pretty intimidating to watch.

They give you donuts too.
You never know when the unexpected will happen.
Good job, Congressman.
There was also a Democrat Congressman, a lawyer, who offered to sue the airport on behalf of the victim (for 50% of the take, of course). So it was a bipartisan effort.

Wish we had that pic of you and our Congressman.
Nicely done.
you beet me to it.
MSM Headline: Evil Republican doesn’t wait for paramedic, causes blunt force trauma to victim chest.
Actually, take the American Heart CPR course! Their’s is the best. Besides, any new changes to the procedure come from them. And, they don’t charge as much as the ARC. I’m an RN, a just-retired school nurse. Having taken both, I PREFER the American Heart course over the ARC.
About ten years ago my dad choked on a piece of steak, and two days ago I was in a restaurant and a kid in the booth beside me got a piece of hot dog lodged in her throat.
In both cases, I was able to use the Heimlich to forcibly dislodge the food. My dad and the little girl are both doing fine, but I'm not sure that would have been the case otherwise. Everyone else was panicking and didn't know what to do, but I'd learned the Heimlich in Boy Scouts, over twenty years ago, and it stuck with me.
You should be ashamed of yourself. WHY? Because your post is just disgusting. However, I congratulate you for being right on the target with your comment. There was once a Good Samaritan Law that protected Doctors in that type of situation. Is it still on the books?
Everyone in our family has to be certified because we have a pool. That is my rule. :)
LOL!
I wonder if they used an AED. I took a CPR course and found out that the save rate on CPR is actually quite low (like maybe 5%), but the save rate with an AED is very good (I don’t remember exact numbers, but the contrast is stunning).
Yes, story mentioned use of AED in this case.
And, you’re correct, the AED significantly improves survivability in cardiac arrest. This individual was fortunate this happened in an airport - I believe all US airports are stocked w/ multiple AEDs. Ideally, these should be in every public place.
The Democrat would have also offered an amendment to the Health Care bill to cover it.
“Anyone making more than $40,000, will be required to pay income tax on any free health care windfall they receive. If a rich Republican receives free health care in an airport; they must pay their fair share of tax on this free health care”
Good work by the congrescritter....
Has this airport never heard of AEDs? Seems that the airport cops should have and know how to use them.
