Earth's temperatures will likely stabilize for a period as deep ocean waters absorb enough heat to mask the effects of global warming for up to a decade, a new study indicates.
Earth's "missing heat" has long been a mystery for climate scientists as the last decade saw an incessant growth in greenhouse gas emissions did not elevate surface temperature as much as expected.
The joint U.S.-Australian study, based on computer simulations of global climate, points to ocean layers deeper than 1,000 feet (300 meters) as the main location of the "missing heat" during periods such as the past decade when global air temperatures showed little trend.
The study conducted by scientists at the National Center for Atmosperic Research and the Bureau of Meteorology in Australia was published in the Sept. 18 issue of the journal Nature Climate Change.
We will see global warming go through hiatus periods in the future," said the NCAR's Gerald Meehl, who led the study.
"However, these periods would likely last only about a decade or so, and warming would then resume. This study illustrates one reason why global temperatures do not simply rise in a straight line."

This is the ultimate “The dog ate my homework” excuse.
I'll bet this was unexpected.
roflol.
Or the earth could be losing the extra heat out into space.... You know like the new NASA data actually shows.... You know like the old days where scientists used actual data as opposed to “models.”
The heat won’t show up for a decade, but in the meantime we should all be paying our carbon taxes that will be saved in a fund somewhat like the Social Security fund.
Sounds as if the creator knew what HE was doing.
ROFL!
Give it up, liars.
We have global warming on the SURFACE due to man made CO2 in the troposphere (in contact with the ocean's surface water), and the ocean water on the surface does not get warmer, but that sneaky heat gets down to 1000 feet or more BEFORE it heats the ocean water.
Now I understand.
And taxing the rich will create jobs, save the economy, and prevent global warming. and tooth decay. and cancer. and poverty, forever.
Sea level has been declining at a rate of 5mm per year for the last two years.

Certainly if the oceans can trap enough heat to make the symptoms of "global warming" disappear for a decade, it must also be true that the oceans could store enough heat to make such symptoms appear when, in fact, no such warming is taking place.
If the amateur scientists responsible for "global warming" overlooked the first, then it must be that they also overlooked the second.
Gee... that elusive
36,614,237,300,000,000,000,000 gallon Heat Sink
just snuck up on ‘em.
the computer models have all this ‘excess heat’ that should be there from global warming, so they throw it in the ocean through programming. Yet another alternative scenario compliments of computer simulation that explains why they dont see, taste and feel global warming..yet.
So we have another ten years. Thank God. I was getting nervous about burning up.
So did they account for undersea volcanos and geothermal vents in their “model”?
Of course not.
This is a sad excuse for a band aid over junk science seeking even more government funding.
It’s not global warming or whatever. It’s pure corruption.
And, oh yes, they mention nothing about the heat from volcanoes in the oceans. As I recall we couldn't fly because of that stuff in the air.
Maybe the oceans are flushing themselves.
