It wasn't in the news because the MSM didn't want it to be. Remember when Kerry was saying Bush's economy was the worst since Hoover? Bush was reducing the deficit and he had historically low unemployment...but the MSM chose not to rebut Kerry's claim.
Bush had the deficit down to about $160B...then Pelosi came in and the whole thing changed.

It will be very interesting to see if any deficit reduction takes place in the next fiscal period versus years from now. Deficit reduction in future years really has little or no impact and may not even happen.
Of course, if Obama gets re-elected in 2012, we are screwed no matter what happens prior to that event. He will go hard left, big time.
