Yeah, I’m sure. I’m also sure that you’re in for a whole lot of ideological misery through this election season.

Not at all. I’m rather content to sit back and watch the tortured poor souls who have been educated and indoctrinated by socialists in the public schools trying to feign conservatism having been caught between yesterday and tomorrow. Knowing that the founding fathers set a foundation for greatness but with socialism running rampant and unchecked in their addled brains from years of indoctrination haven’t yet figured out how to rid themselves of the chains of bondage to government.

I’ve also read the end of the book and know how it’s going to turn out.

Michele Bachmann is getting trashed because she is an idiot and a liar.

"Even if there was, it is the credibility that some lady (unknown) ran up to Bachmann and said the vaccine caused her daughter to become retarded. The retarded thing was that (if this actually happened) Bachmann did not verify that the story was true."

I think the woman ran up and said that this vaccine story has caused Bachmann to become retarded. The Congresswoman merely misheard her.

I hate to say, as I am a fellow evangelical Christian, but, a lot of Mrs. Bachmann’s attitude stems from ideas floating around in the evangelical/homeschooling/socially-isolationist mindset—common among certain evangelicals.

I think in part of their rejection of evolution—and the concomitant suspicion of science, certain evangelicals/fundamentalists are more happy to use non-scientific, anecdotal evidence on issues—such as vacinations—when it fits their perspective. This is rather sad—as one can be very scientific and objective—and still reject evolution and the philosophy of Scientism, which saturates our secular American society.

That stream of evangelical anti-intellectualism is what scares non-Christians (and not a few of us evangelicals too) about people like Bachmann; she doesn’t appear fully rational sometimes.

She should stay focused on the agenda she wants to push in this race against the socialists - Romney and Obama.

Now she’s made a big mistake talking about an issue that really was not on her main agenda and she is getting blasted.

Focus Michelle or get out of the way because you are running a clown show and hurting conservatives at the moment.

There have been postings from a group called nvic.org put up on FR, and quoted other places. From reading their FAQ page, they even urge caution with getting pet vaccinations.

Do you think perhaps these people are chumming GOP-oriented websites and media, to get their views into the mouths of GOP candidates and before the public? That's one of the things PR/agitprop people do.

Michele's people may have sipped from a poisoned chalice.

I know a woman who has that same smartypants attitude that "I know better than all doctors, they all lie and cover for each other, and the Truth about X is Y, and they've been keeping it out of the papers." ("They" are usually Big Pharma in her world -- but also the temple-keepers of High Medicine at The Lancet, JAMA, and so on.)

She's a sucker for "alternative medz" and "new therapies" -- and there are a ton of people and websites out there who think the same way. If Michele even accidentally plugged into those folks, the results would be a real zoo.

[JohnD] ....some lady (unknown) ran up to Bachmann and said the vaccine caused her daughter to become retarded. The retarded thing was that (if this actually happened) Bachmann did not verify that the story was true."

Homosexual activists pulled something like that once, to discredit psychology researcher Paul Cameron. They attended a lecture he was giving in Nebraska, his home state, and circulated, before the lecture, some horrific story of homosexual abuse that supposedly was ripped from the police scanners and was hot news about something happening that very evening in Nebraska.

It was fake. Cameron repeated the story in his lecture, or referred to it, and homosexual activists who were "lying in wait" instantly pounced and demanded a professional review (guaranteed to result in his expulsion from the American Psychological Association, whose Division 44 -- homosexuality and paraphilia "truth" -- was then dominated by liberal gay activists). Cameron had to resign to avoid a professional lynching by homonazis.

The person(s) who planted the canard, of course, disappeared into the night and were never found.

This kind of thing has been done before, and by people who would eminently approve of a political lynching of Bachmann.

If Rick Perry hadn’t brought this Gardasil vaccine to the public’s attention, no one would know about it...

Okay, mo one - except for those who watch newscasts on TV, or read newspapers, or talk to friends who do.  And I guess no one outside of Texas has heard of it yet

I’m not old. Neither are my friends. We don’t watch the dinosaur media. Sorry.

Hmmm.  To restate my point of view, perhaps more clearly - in the abstract -

Anyone who did not know about HPV vaccines before Govenor Perry's executive order has his head in the sand, is woefully uninformed about what is going on in the world, and should make better use of some of the several news media which are now available.
