Thousands of families are stricken every day with that tragedy, it's no more a tragedy than any of the others, it's in the news because she's a Kennedy.
One of our church members died yesterday, that's a "tragedy" to me. I have had two brothers and a father and three brothers - in - law and several other relatives die but that's not news nor should it be, beyond loved ones.
Agreed but add to it that this is from the Boston Globe. The Globe has always been leading the cheers for the Kennedys and probably feels the loss more deeply than most.
I will agree wholeheartedly with the others though, may she Rest in Peace and comfort for her family!
In my opinion, the tragedies of the Kennedy family are the assassinations of John Kennedy and Robert Kennedy. As victims of political assassination, those are in a separate category.
Otherwise, many families experience illness and premature deaths. So this is hardly unique to the Kennedy family.
Sometimes, apologists talk about Kennedy tragedies and include Chappaquiddick (sp?) and the William Kennedy Smith rape case. That frustrates me, because self-inflicted wounds caused by your own bad behavior aren’t really a tragedy. It’s hard to have sympathy with people who drink too much and behave improperly with women, and call that part of some family curse which inflicts harm to an otherwis honorable family.
