Then I would receive all the free medical care I needed in prison.

Perhaps at that age, I will also have learned to keep my word tense consistent, also.

OOh new rule? Anything about aging and we get to post pics of Raquel Welch? If so, I like it!

btw: everything I have read about her says she is all natural — no plastic surgery (or none that can be confirmed). This woman works HARD to look good and accomplishes it more than well...

“Such ‘neglect’ is actually FAR from benign, and could be considered malignant, in fact...”

I agree. I was just using a phrase that I imagined apologists of the non-treatment using. My first sentence was (I hope) clearly sarcastic. Obviously, in the case of Sweden, the medical system doesn’t even provide pain relief.

Soon a happy Liberal will come up with the idea that old folks should be sent to state operated "Death Centers."

Otherwise known as Carousel.

I’ve always looked at socialized medicine as being somewhat like veterinary care for livestock. Farmers have their livestock treated, if they can be reasonably confidant that the livestock are worth more to them economically than the cost of the care. An infected cow will be administered antibiotics. But a cow with cancer won’t get MRIs or expensive therapies.

Everything about big government betrays a fundamental belief that the only reason citizens exist is for the benefit of those in power. Politicians have endless special projects; we’re the cash cows who fund them. And when we can’t fund them any more, and we become overall liabilities—well, there’s no reason to spend on our medical care, is there?

Preview of Obamacare.

This is what should be sent to every Senior Citizen.

Dems keep scaring them about a Republican administration, this should open their eyes of what a continued Obama administration will do to them.

Obamacare kills jobs and people.

Is benign neglect a treatment?

Not so benign, if you ask me.

Careful! It's a tossup between whether you'll get pics of Raquel Welch or Helen Thomas.

I'm not sure I'd want to risk it.

The phrase “benign neglect” came from my memory of controversies about public policies, under that name.

I just looked it up, to see where it came from. Here's one link, with a bit of background:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Benign_neglect

Actually, in many circumstances, “benign neglect” would be a perfectly sound, and quite conservative policy. For instance, “benign neglect” might have been the best approach for governments to take, with regard to the auto company bankruptcies.

That said, I completely agree — not treating an age-enhanced woman for pain isn't benign, in any way. I threw the phrase in, in the spirit of the sarcasm of my first sentence. Clearly, the sarcastic intent fell flat.

What kind of world have we become when we turn a blind eye to the atrocities of savages to avoid insulting their religion, we murder the unborn in the name of freedom of choice and torture the elderly for the good of the collective? Not a world I want to be a part of, that’s for sure. May God call me home before we slide further into the abyss.
