The Islamists have always been a useful idiots for the Communists. And the number one rule for useful idiots is that once the job is done they get eliminated. Leon Trotsky, Ernesto "Che" Guevara, the Foreign volunteers of the Spanish Civil war, were all were disposed of when they were no longer needed. Fanatics and idealists are like a wild animal. They are useful in attacking an enemy, but too dangerous to keep around as a pet.

The job of the islamists was to drive the US out of Europe and the Middle East. That job is nearly done, and will be completed as soon as the last US troops are out of Iraq and Afghanistan next year. Like Vietnam did for SE Asia we will shake the dust of region from our boots and never return. Then Russia will hang them out to dry like the Cubans, North Koreans or the Vietnamese. Cuba thought that the Russians would help them dominate the entire Caribbean. Instead they were never supplied with first rate weapons and were kept at home with the exception of Angola, where the Russians decided they could again be useful idiots.
