“I take you you are in favor of mandatory HPV vaccination?”
Yes, just like I am favor of most mandatory vaccinations. It’s one of the few legitimate intrusions of the government into people’s lives. A nation that is not properly vaccinated is a dead nation. Or will be. And it will be an ugly death.
Will people die from the vaccinations? Yes. But far fewer than would die from the diseases they protect against.
That, or dump ALL mandatory vaccinations, go through a period of horrific disease, and the survivors will be those with better genetics. There’s a word for that: eugenics. It’s a favorite of marxists.
Those are the choices...
Actually in Texas, the legislature delegated this authority (to select vaccines) to the Executive Branch. But it is to be done through the Department of State Health Services, so Perry bypassed one of his departments.
Sorry if that sounds like nit-picking, maybe it is. He did bypass established methods of getting this approved. I agree he did it wrong.
It is sad that you say Bachmann is irrelevant when she is one of the most conservative in the running. This site is for choosing the most conservative candidate and we are NOT doing that. Perry is ranked 5th out of 8 on conservatives who are running. We should be picking the number ONE ranked conservative. We screw ourselves every election because we don’t pick the right person. This year is our biggest opportunity and we are FAILING.
No, but they are politicians.
Everyone is attacking Perry here.
Bachmann made her argument - leave it up to the individual (or Parent) not the state
Paul made a different argument - executive order bypassing the legislature
Santorum made a different argument - people shouldn’t be having sex in schools therefore no epidemic.
And all of the arguments were solid, and they will be repeated over and over and over.
Because now every candidate knows how quick Perry gets bloodied by this, it’s open season on Gardasil Perry.
Paul will practice his lines, Bachmann will practice hers, Santorum will practice his. Maybe one of them will figure out how to add humor to this.
But what Perry did was so awful for so many reasons. And almost no one knows about it. People still talk about Romneycare, but Romneycare was fully discussed 4 years ago. It’s good that they talk about that still, because it’s still relevant.
With Gardasilgate, the other candidates still need to reach the voters with this information, and the voters will thank the candidates for pointing this out to them.
The msm doesn’t seem to be interested in looking through Perry’s record for the bad stuff. So it’s left up to the candidates to do it.
Meaning candidates are politicians.
They have that in Texas, too.
Well, then you are in luck, because he first admitted the error back in 2010.
Au contraire. She made a comment about a woman in the audience telling her that Gardasil CAUSED mental retardation in her daughter, which is quite impossible.
Most? Can you name the ones that are mandatory, where you are not in favor of the vaccine being mandatory? And then, what is the criteria that causes you to find them short of the hurdle that justifies making them mandatory.
-- That, or dump ALL mandatory vaccinations ... --
That strikes me as extreme, and not making a reasoned public policy argument based on available information.
-- Those are the choices... --
Obviously, the menu of public policy choices is not as limited as you suggest.
I thought this vaccination was voluntary subject to parental approval. Is this wrong?. Also I understand that 43 millions of these shots were given. In Texas alone???????????????? One hell of a lot of Texan girls between that age or they just had a huge overpopulation of girls. What the hell is going on? If this is true Bachmann is done for me.
And here you have a problem. Bachmann did NOTHING to stop parents from being excluded entirely in her own state of Minnesota when she was a legislator. Governor Perry guaranteed parents had the final say.
Bachmann's shown her true colors as a crass opportunist in the face of a faltering campaign. Hypocrisy has followed her for months. She's against hiking the debt ceiling except when she's signing a pledge to support increase it. She's against subsides except when she's taking income from a farm benefitting from them, income she denied but declared in her disclosure forms. She's against earmarks except when it's for her own home district.
She's flailing about demagoguing the vaccine itself when it's been tested in tens of thousands, continued safety monitoring shows it's been found no less safe than other vaccines, it's been approved for males as well as females now.
Yesterday she was on with Hannity claiming parents are too busy to be involved in their children's healthcare decisions so it's just too risky for government to ask parents to opt-out. It blew my mind!
She's lost all perspective and is engaged in the kind of underhandedness we expect from Democrats.
Yeah, but did he learn his lesson?
He hasn’t on immigration.
I don’t believe Perry is a conservative. He is just a Republican.
He has become the default candidate. The settle and make him into what we want to be guy. Everybody knows a real conservative gets nowhere.
He started rather charming the other night, better than before. But he isn’t much of a conservative.
Hepatitis B can be spread through using the same toothbrush or razor.
HPV only lives on genital tissue.
I could imagine a dangerous scenario involving football and Hepatitis B.
HPV requires genitals to be involved.
Hep B is very contagious, and it’s transfered through blood.
Vampires often have Hep B.
I am not saying pick your candidate but we have four strong conservatvies to chose from. We are again settling for less. Some here are saying “Anybody but Obama”. We the conservatives in 1980 did not say that thank God. They decided to pick the best conservative. We could learn a lot from the better conservatives in 1980 who did not lower their standards like we are this year.
Yep. Had to get mine before I could enter school. And when my kids were entering school, there were a host of vaccinations that were mandatory before they could enter school. Now the kids have to also receive the chicken pox vaccine.
This is getting ridiculous.
I think there is a very important fact that is being overlooked in this whole argument. By giving this vaccine to young girls, you are condoning the activity from which the disease is contracted. It’s the old “well, they’re going to do it anyway” argument. There is a moral issue as well as political and physical arguments. I would have thought Michele Bachman would have picked up on that.
