Pawlenty endorses Romney for president (Establishment is worried)
The Hill ^ | 09/12/11 | Daniel Strauss

Former Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty (R) endorsed former Massachussetts Gov. Mitt Romney (R) on Monday.

Pawlenty, who dropped out of the presidential race after a disappointing showing in the influential Iowa Straw Poll, called Romney "the complete package" and said that Romney's economic experience was a deciding factor in winning his endorsement.

"I believe he is going to be our party's nominee," Pawlenty said on Fox News's "Fox and Friends."

"I think he's going to be a transformational and great president for this country," Pawlenty added.

Pawlenty also said he would not consider being the Republican vice presidential nominee.

In the same interview Pawlenty also jabbed Romney opponent Texas Gov. Rick Perry (R) for writing in his book "Fed Up!" that Social Security was a failed program. Pawlenty said Romney wanted to fix Social Security which was also the former Minnesota governor's stance. In the last few weeks Romney and Perry have repeatedly hit each other on their stances on Social Security.

"Governor Perry has said in the past that he thought it was failed," Pawlenty said.

In a followup email Pawlenty doubled down on Romney's economic qualifications for winning his endorsement.

"Mitt Romney is running for president, and I am proud to endorse him," Pawlenty said in a email blasted out by the Romney campaign shortly after he appeared on Fox and Friends. "Romney is running for president because he is deeply committed to our country, troubled by its current condition, and I believe he can turn it around."

Fairly obvious that the establishment is worried and want to get their immaculation out of the way without those troubling primaries.

For people to continue to try to paint Perry as "establishment" is obviously wrong. I believe Perry has MItt right where he wants him. Ths SS issue is going to draw Mitt into a trap. Perry never said to do away with it and Mitt and Pawlenty are making that jump.

It's interesting to see this play out. Pawlenty touts Mitt's strategic line. Bachmann hammers Perry from the "right" and Palin s out there backing Perry on his SS comments.

The dividing line will continue to become clearer. It will be interesting if we start to see Palin defending Perry more as others continue to attack or will she jump into the frenzy?

The two GOP front runners are more of the same. Maybe one less than the other on the surface but rest assured the outcome will likely be very close to the same for both candidates.

“”Pawlenty also said he would not consider being the Republican vice presidential nominee””

Pawlenty does not have to decline being VP because Romney will not be the Presidential candidate.

I ain’t have a clue as to what Palin will do. One thing is clear to me. IF she runs, she will run against Perry on the crony capitalism charge and win a piece of the “right” vote. Then, Romney will further solidify his place as the nominee. The End.

Looks like this fool was ok with Obamney-care all along. What a joke. He just endorsed the individual mandate.

Like there was never any doubt that Pawlenty was a RINO.

My guess, as people fall out, Bachman endorses Mitt.

Newt endorses Perry.

Cain endorses Perry.

Huntsman endorses Mitt.

Santorum endorses Perry or no one, hell he might even endorse Mitt, who knows.

Frankly, I will be surprised if Obama loses his re-election bid. I think he’s got an excellent shot. That’s a shame, obviously, but the GOP does not know how to tap into what We The People are feeling.
