Alliance should have taken that shi’t out when they surrounded the mosque he was in early during the Iraq 2 War.
Instead, they let him out to ‘negotiate’ and have a truce.
How many times since has been come back to haunt the Alliance forces?
Saddam Hussein was a particularly nasty piece of business, but after observing seven years of military operations in Iraq, I am beginning to understand why Arab / Islamic societies tend to produce leaders like Saddam Hussein / Gaddafi / Mubarak.
The US military will never be able to successfully deal with situations like Iraq unless it changes its rules of engagement. But that is neither likely nor advisable - Russia, China and other rising powers are watching how the US Military conducts its business.
Consequently, the US needs to emphasize covert operations and smart diplomacy. It will be extremely stupid to push for a million man invasion of Iran if targeted strikes can destroy Iran's nuclear infrastructure.
