Democratic legislative leaders have launched a last-minute push to allow unions to organize child-care providers who work out of the home.
Assembly Speaker John A. Pérez and Senate President Pro Tem Darrell Steinberg have drafted legislation that would deliver a major victory to labor allies who have been fighting for years for the right to organize the more than 40,000 family child-care providers operating in California.
Assembly Bill 101, sponsored by the American Federation of State County and Municipal Employees and the Service Employees International Union, would affect both licensed family child-care providers, who can care for children in their homes, and certain license-exempt providers, including grandparents, relatives and neighbors receiving state subsidies to care for one family.

Next year Maxine Waters will complain that young black girls cant even get baby sitting jobs because of the racist TeaParty.
They did it in Michigan (and several other states) but the union lasted less than a year before we killed it.
Priorities.

Increible!!
AND demand more gov’t assistance so women can pay for babysitters (who will be earning more NOW)
I couldn't sleep one night and came across a liberal drama called ‘Bread and Roses’. In it LA janitor workers who were mostly recent (illegal??) immigrants from Mexico meet a union organizer who convinces them that they are not being treated good enough by their employer, compared to us apparently. The problem is that as janitorial workers they were not in a profession with a large demand, it was easy to find plenty of replacements for them if they made demands. So the union organizer showed them how to disrupt meetings, traffic, restaurants and basically cause those that give contracts to their company so much grief that they give into the demands. One of them didn't want to take a chance on getting arrested because he got a college scholarship, he was called a traitor for not joining the disruptions.
Welcome to America. This made me think of Amnesty and guest worker programs.
Bread and Roses is a 2000 drama film directed by Ken Loach, starring Adrien Brody. The plot deals with the struggle of poorly paid janitorial workers in Los Angeles and their fight for better working conditions and the right to unionize. It is based on the “Justice for Janitors” campaign of the Service Employees International Union (SEIU).[1]

Have to get more union dues to send to the Democrats.
This is a back door way to raise tax revenue.... u r a babysitter taking cash from the neighbor... u hear about the union and al the new rights and higher wages.... u join, pay tons of dues and then get your income reported pay taxes and end up with less than you made before....
Lacking immediate needs or calls for action, who would benefit from this law passing? As Inspector Louie would say, "Round up the usual suspects!" Is it not wonderful that the State of California Legislators have nothing better to do than these kinds of increased regulatory burdens? It is not like they have any other pressing concerns, right? By the way, has the California Legislature passed that urgent bill to require all hotel beds to have fitted bottom sheets? I was really worried about that. /sarc
