Tea Party group concerned Palin, others using movement for personal gain

Wary that some are joining the grassroots conservative movement merely to sell books and enhance their celebrity status, a Tea Party group is putting the heat on former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin to make her presidential plans clear.

In a Tuesday statement, Armed Forces Tea Party Patriots paints former GOP vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin as the prime example of that kind of behavior. The group, which consists of former military members, wants Palin to announce whether she will seek the White House or sit out the 2012 race.

“If not we are at risk of having major Tea Party speeches and events used as political rallies for a selected candidate [versus] a citizen based movement that forces the legislative agenda and serves as a fundamental check to the current corrupt culture in Washington, D.C.,” the group said in the statement.

I read that this group was not at NH’s Tea Party on Monday. Sounds like mud slinging but I don’t know why they are doing it.

Armed Forces Tea Party Calls on Sarah Palin to declare her status as a candidate for President today

Indialantic, FL (MMD Newswire) September 06, 2011 - - There is growing mission creep with candidates and politicians in the Tea party movement and it’s very important for us as a movement to maintain our integrity in vetting candidates. To do this, all persons considering a run for president of the United States and offices below must declare their intentions before becoming closely associated with the Tea Party. The Tea Party is not a movement to sell books or make news for the sake of attention; we have serious issues facing our country. We are asking that all potential candidates must declare before using our movement as a place for stump speeches.

In order for us to ensure we are an issues based movement that can be trusted and respected for our principles over candidates and personal politics we feel it’s vital that Gov. Sarah Palin declare her status as a candidate now. If not we are at risk of having major Tea party speeches and events used as political rallies for a selected candidate vs. a citizen based movement that forces the legislative agenda and serves as a fundamental check to the current corrupt culture in Washington DC.

We can’t have a few selected national candidates at major events that may give the impression they are representative of all in the Tea Party as possible candidates. The Governors values have always aligned well with the larger Tea Party positions of limited and responsible government as many candidates do. She can be an instrumental voice going forward helping guide the discussion should she decide not to run. Until then we must keep the playing field level and ensure all candidates declared and hinting are responsible to us in the Tea Party so we can maintain our independence and validity as the largest national movement of citizen patriots working to make our country better and more constitutionally centered.

"No tea partiers I know or converse with seem to think this way."

Actually, despite what some may think, the concern that people like Sarah Palin not be seen as the sole face of the Tea Party is not new. Last year when Sarah was paid a hefty sum to speak at the Tea Party Nation convention there was a lot of media chatter that she was the leader of the Tea Party. The following was the response to that perception by the Tea Party Patriots: http://www.teapartypatriots.org/BlogPostView.aspx?id=2d180076-dcee-4106-8aca-8991b2722fa1 Note that the Tea Party Patriots is a loose coalition of some 3500 local Tea Party groups and represents by far the largest number of actual grass roots Tea Party activists.

Who are the people in this group who are making accusations in the name of a Tea Party group? Why are they making these accusations and what do they have to gain.

The great part about the Tea party is that we are Americans who gather when the need is there and we are not affiliated.

People who make claims as Tea party people are the ones ruining the movement.

That’s right. The only time the Tea Party is portrayed in a positive or even neutral light is if it gives the MSM an opportunity to slam Palin or another Lib target. If not, the MSM portrays the Tea Party as a bunch of ignorant, racist terrorists.

not the politicos, not those inside the beltway types that are part of that PERMANENT POLITICAL CLASS

When discussing the lack of real experience, one of the supporters said that's not true, she's got 20 years experience.

I know where she’s been on this stuff. I don’t think I’ve even heard of this particular group before today.

Oh, no—if we’re not careful the tea party will end up having influence over an election!

Palin has done far more for the tea party than they’ve done for her.

Have you noticed all the desperate stories and commentaries put out since September 3 to try and smoke Sarah out? The trend is clear-—she is frustrating the libs and their RINO enablers, and they don’t know what to do next.

Ah, rob777, one of FR’s leading Palin bashers. Couldn't have an agenda could you Rob?

Sarah Palin has done far more to promote the Tea Party than the Tea Party has done to promote Sarah Palin.

Sounds like a newly created group, of libs.

See my post above-—it’s sudden appearance out of no where and onto “The Hill’s” front page is very suspicious.

Unnamed sources from the Soros wing of the Tea Party trying to sow discontent.

Anyone can claim to be Tea Party, then make whatever statements the media wants to hear.

Romney PR-attack?
Of course, SSDD.

July 18, 2011 - Gary Stein: "Sarah Palin ...plays the tease game, getting out in public just a bit to take the limelight away from people like Mitt Romney .."

FLASHBACK:

Fake-badge Mitt Romney and Bill Hudak
are now linked to the creation
of fake Tea Partys, including the very one
which attacked Gov. Palin from Texas
(see post 11)

Good Grief leave this women alone. Why is it she is getting attacked from both sides of the aisle? As the song goes “It’s My Life And I’ll Do What I Want.” She said by the end of September if that is not soon enough for you then move on and as they say in NY “Forget About It.” Sarah Palin is a servant first, life is not all about her, as opposed to the current WH occupant. Sarah is going to be very busy next year whether she runs or not getting other likeminded conservatives elected. Sarah and Jim Demint are going to totally transforming the halls of Congress in the next two cycles whether Sarah graces us with a WH run. The GOP elites hate that but they know it is true along with the left. As I remember being aligned with the left in any way it not a good thing.
