I’m sure this is the typical government agency scare story. It’s actually not that bad. 3,700 out of 31,000 post offices is just a little more than 1 out of 10. And we can live without Saturday delivery and hardly notice. I’m just surprised they didn’t come up with an angle that they would have to cut service to cute little kids. “Sorry. No more mail if you are a cute little kid! Ask your parents to raise their taxes.”
But if that’s the price of getting their revenue and income in balance—they should go for it.
US Postal services are essential for the minorities, women, and other under-represented segments of the population. Any effort to shut down the postal service will affect these people the most. /s
How will we know? Are they going to send out notices? Wait. That wouldn't work. We wouldn't get them until Spring either way.

Apply a free market principle: if it’s a good idea, it will succeed on its own in the real world without govt help.
Shut down the Dept. of Education and all federal funding to states, counties and cities. Problem solved.

I think it is a great idea to shut down the postal service.. Declare it bankrupt and then shut down all pensions and benefits. I absolutely hate to see a post office employee come into the Emergency Department where I work.. The work restriction form runs about 5 pages and is broken down into stuff like “Can sit for ______ minutes, stand for _____ minutes, can breathe ________ times a minute, can use right hand, left hand, wrist, elbow, shoulder,knee ankle (pick one), I exaggerate only slightly.. and, close out the workmans compensation case.........FORGET IT.... I AM PERMANENTLY PARALYZED !!!!
My post office does not deliver mail to my street. I have to go to the post office to pick up my mail.
The Post Office isn’t going to shut down for winter. The post office is “losing” $3.5 billion per year because they have to pre-fund pensions and health programs $5.5 billion dollars per year.
That, Freepers, is a profit. This article, just like every article posted today, is crap. Scare tactics designed to get the USPS a bailout to make the Post Master General look good or something.

My mail woman had her raincoat on in the pouring rain, but was holding the bundle of mail for my street in her hand OUT in the rain. When she got to my house the bundle was wet pulp, so went I couldn’t even sign the delivery receipt. A real genius she was.
