Tim Scott Hosts Gov. Rick Perry Live
Be sure to slide the volume up on the video.
Just beginning.
Yawn.
Watching. Also awaiting flak attack.
It's too bad the vitriol in the Republican Primary this year. I see Republicans protesting Republicans. It's a sorry state of affairs.
Do not mistake FR for the nation at large.
Q & A now.
He started to mention a Senator from S Carolina - bet it wasn’t Linsey!
Where is Tim Scott holding this town hall? I didn’t know that Perry was in the area. No mention on local radio this morning.
Perry was going to attend the Demint forum later but apparently the wildfires in Texas have got so bad he has to return to Texas.
CNN is covering it.
I don’t know. Shield told me that this was coming on so I put his link in this thread.
Immigration reform: First secure the borders.
Calls Obama’s declaration that the border at El Paso has never been safer, an outright LIE!
Go Rick!
It’s hard but you are right.
Too bad but absolutely understandable.
Called Obama a liar and the Mexican drug cartel terrorists.
So he could ignore the wildfires all week, has time for this puff appearance, but he suddenly has to bug out on DeMint?
Tell Chavez, “We don’t need your oil!”
Listen mouse brain.
The TS pushed amazing winds (and no rain to speak of) into Texas and it has made the fires much worse.
Scurry off some place where your “snots” are appreciated.
1) Repeal Obamacare
2) Repeal Dodd-Frank
3) Stop the EPA from going forward with regulations
4) Eliminate the Education Department. Send the money back to the states. Education department hasn’t educated one child, Department of Energy hasn’t created any energy.
As if you have ANY idea what Rick Perry has done all week.
This is it!
EPA
BIG EDUCATION
UNIONS - LAWYERS (Top two DNC money and muscle contributors)
Perry’s been battling them for a long time.
Looking forward to all of the insiteful, honest and contextual information that will, no doubt be heaped upon us by the wonderful drive-by posters most Perry threads are infested with.
Perry is for gun control
“Use both hands!”
“I’m FOR gun control. Use both hands”
Perry's answer: I'm for gun control - use both hands. lol.
The guy is very natural in public.
He explains how his wife convinced him that he needed to run for President to save the country.
Notes that he was outspent 4 to 1 in his 2nd governor’s race.
Mitt Romney should be very afraid.
Lots of upside. Really looking forward to the debate to seeing him drive the figurative stake in the Romney campaign.
Asked for their prayers for Texas.
“I’m an all-of-the above energy” guy.
Government doesn’t have to pick winners and losers in the energy field - actually, that’s across the board.
Technology is how we have been able to discover and produce new energy.
Energy can create huge numbers of new jobs.
SEC — asking questions about companies, “are you investing in companies that use hydrolic fracturing” — Obama is coming after hydrolic fracturing companies, but it is necessary to make us more energy independent.
For Nuclear plants in the right areas. “We don’t have tsunamis in texas”.
Biofuels, wind energy. I’m for removing all these subsidies. If we will remove the burden of regulation from energy companies, they won’t need any subsidies.
I said something about lifing up prayers for those in Japan. Please keep the folks in Texas in your prayers while we try to get the wildfires under control. And pray for rain.
I am a huge Adult Stem Cell proponent.
I am a huge adult stem cell proponent, and I oppose embryonic stem cells, which haven’t helped anyone.
I am one of the most pro-life governors in America. When the constitution of your country says “life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness”, protecting life is a very important task.
Passed several pro-life bills in Texas. Protect Life.
Question about term limits: I am not a fan of term limits. Why would you limit this man? Why would you limit a person who is doing your work; YOU are what term limits aught to be about. If you see someone spending too much or doing the wrong thing, the voters have to get rid of them.
Limiting the representative to 3 terms would empower the beureucrats.
What is more important than term limits is passing a balanced budget amendment to the constitution.
Question: keep troops in iraq, yes or no?
We need to talk to our battelfield commanders, and make sure we know what the mission is. We’ve been at war for 10 years, we are grinding up a generation of young soldiers. I want to bring our troops home as soon as we can, but I don’t want to signal to our enemies when that is going to happen.
A president saying exactly when we were drawing down our troops was devastating. Need to bring out troops home as soon as we can, but make sure our interests are protected.
Perry: “Balance budget amendment is more important than term limits.”

That comment makes me think this is the same idea as:
Cutting off social justice give-aways will push back against poverty and illegal immigration.
Tackle one, and you have positive outcomes.
I like the way he answers a question and then shuts up. He is not a rambler. The more I hear the more I believe he will SMOKE Romney
And a zinger for the NY Times!
Unless you're a political hack... or work for the New York times.
LMAO
Says everybody in the GOP primary are all good people, but none have the record of job creation that he has.
Mentions Romney not by name as not having created jobs in Mass when he was governor.
We have a track record. You cannot argue that we haven’t created the best business environment for big states in Texas.
Rick quotes Mrs Perry: “On Sunday morning you won’t see my husband playing golf. He’ll be in church.”
YOW-WEE! Wonder if Barry’s rather large ears are burning?
Now answering a question about God in the schools.
I will be proud to sign the national day of prayer, and will actually BE THERE.
His wife said: “On Sunday morning, you won’t see my husband playing golf, he’ll be in church”
next question, about SS cost of living and the fed ruining our money.
Have to have a federal reserve that is transparent. Can’t have Bernanke using bad monetary policy to cover up bad fiscal policy.
One way to bring down cost of energy and food is to expand our domestic production of energy.
It all goes back to “don’t spend all the money”, and to free up the entrepeneurs from overtaxation, and overregulation.
Will be in church on Sunday — not on the golf course.

BTW — I saw “Seven Days in Utopia” yesterday.
Great movie. Robert Duval film made in Texas Hill country.
84-year old guy: We don’t need any more Bushes; we need you.
[lol]
WRap-up.
I love this country. I think our best days are ahead of us. I think the greatest stories in the annals of america are still in front of us. But they will only occur if we do over the next 14 months what is required. But it’s going to be a hard slog.
I think this country is worth sacrificing for. ...
I want to ask you for your support. I want to say thank you, God bless you, and through you, may God continue to bless this united states of america.
CA has had legislative term limits for 20 years. I can tell everyone it’s not worked out as we hoped.
OK, post-talk wrap-up. First, I wish I had gotten to this thread earlier. Second, I believe he speaks just a little slower than Palin — I say that because when I try to do transcripts from Palin speeches, I can’t keep up nearly as well as I can keep up when Perry is speaking.
Anyway, what I heard I liked. I think I agreed with everything he said, even when his answers weren’t the standard “conservative” answers. For example, I agree with him that required term limits entrench the staff that stays around, and if we want to limit someone’s term, we should just not keep re-electing them.
I'm convinced that we just watched the next President of the United States.
