As a former medic I can say that this and other reforms are long over due. the military is so vital and so wasteful. Ask anyone returning from the various combat opps areas about how much is wasted and you hear an earful. The leaders want the folks to have what they need, but to say that nobody is paying attention to details is an understatement. I hear an earful from young sargents and CPO's that come back after being deployed.

Ask anyone about year end spending to "insure we don't lose our budget" Ask anyone about the great hospitals like Brook ARmy and you know what is possible, but it is not possible to do that two or three times in an area the size of Bethesda/Dc. /it is not a rant it is a wish for change a

I agree with you 100% as regards waste. I’d looks at the daycare centers, the military policty regarding housing and pregnant service members as direct policies that waste money. We have privates showing up having just recently married a gal with three kids...Bingo!: he’s out of the barracks and we are on the hook for medical & housing for a new family of five. We have an HIV positive member and now he’s retained instead of being discharged. The waste is abominable, I agree. Oh for the days when soldiers had to ask permission to get married.
