I was working on my computer this afternoon and then internet went down. Checked my TV and no cable at all so I simply went through all channels and then I ended up on CSpan2. Pat Caddell was speaking (event happened on July 30, 2011). Certainly did not mean to listen but then for may be 2 minutes I did something else while the sound was still on. WOW...I suddenly found myself listening really seriously to Pat Caddell - could not believe my ears. I mean, that guy would have been at a Tea Party rally he would have won the day - for sure.
Of course he talked about Carter for 1 minute, he insisted that he was still a democrat, but of the old guard democrat.
Honestly, everything that guy said was..fantastic!!!
If you have an hour to lose (or willing to learn something from a democrat) please listen:

My beloved Grandfather was an Old School Democrat. Pro-Life, Pro-Military, die-hard Patriot, God-fearing, but deeply concerned for the underprivileged.
Caddell is sick at heart over the bizarre uber-leftist Marxist-loving scumbags his party has turned into.
I fully expect him to roll Independent next time around.
There a lot of good thinkers out there, but someone with a face for radio isn't going to get elected. It is just the way it is.
He could be a good asset somewhere in a new administration, though.
Pat Caddell, Centennial Institute, Western Conservative Summit - just in case the link is not specific :-)
I was kidding of course for VP, but frankly I had a great time listening to him this afternoon and I was completely stunned by all his remarks. It was NOTHING from a democrat there. That was a great tea party speech. I mean, honestly, that was a beautiful speech - in Pat Caddell style of course.

He is also very upset after the republicans having no guts to fight what’s going on and be as corrupted as the democrats. And I agree with him also on that. He called the 2 party the corrupt - the democrats, and the stupid: the republicans. His views on foreign policy are also stunning. Totally agree with him on that also.
What Colin Powell is to the GOP, Pat Caddell is to the Donkeys. Keep it up, Pat.
I am new to politics (I am in since about 2 years before the 2008 elections, when I started to be terrified that the one would win because I knew immediately who he was. Only then did I start my political education. So I don’t really know the old guard democrats. If they are all like Pat Caddell, I will still vote conservative of course but frankly, a guy like that obviously loves his country - he talked about America exceptionalism et al so..again..wow..I learn something today. We CAN work with guys like that, indeed. He seems even to be more on the right than some of the RINOS in Congress right now.
I like him too. He is bright and principled, and is someone to watch.
Good that you posted a thread about him, and now I feel bad about the “face for radio” comment.
But he is just the kind of guy who doesn’t give a shit about a comment like that. We could use more like him in this country.
We certainly could use more of Pat and much less of the communists racist like the one we have now. That’s for sure. May be with a good facial we still could use him as VP?
Some of the most reliable stalwarts of conservatism were, in fact, Democrats at one time.
The GOP was at one time made up of a lot of East Coast blue blood elitists (not entirely, though - my working class grandfather was a lifelong Republican, in New Jersey no less).
But I am not surprised to see people like Perry and Cadell identifying with the TP.
Do you know if Pat Caddell even gave a speech at a Tea Party event?
There is no Democratic Party anymore. Just a bunch of snot-nosed incompetents hell-bent on exploiting the poverty they create.
