Police called a mandatory evacuation of beach front properties. At last call, my friend was not able to get back to her neighborhood yesterday - 36 hours after landfall.
I’m still struggling to come up with a legal and appropriate response when police tell me to leave my home. I won’t do it. No way, no how. I even sat around with the lights off and the car parked down the street to avoid the conflict.
Also, a quick note : In my area, after the storm I was walking around “Pretty much open carry”. I received no flack from anyone.
All of my holsters are ITWB concealment type. This day I wore a tighter shirt that was ridden up on the grip. I would start a dedicated thread to my carry, but it’s not worth it.
I had to pump gas at a ghetto gas station. The line was long, and the crowd was ROWDY. The gas pumps were completely covered with graffitti, as were the floors of the convenience station. There were about 20-30 kids outside banging on cars, walking on hoods, yelling and screaming.
All of them - White, ages 11 to 18. The black kids were hanging out in the shadows asking to borrow money from anyone walking by. The store owner was locked up behind the glass. My gun - At the ready and shown to the crowd. No one said or did anything (while i was there).
That's why I refuse to ever evacuate.
