No I think it was a lady name and it was traveling due north to the Panhandle and Alabama.

Ike is the only hurricane that I remember coming through this part of Texas in the six years I've lived here. Perhaps some storm that fell apart, but kept the initial name? Dunno.

Do you realize that Irene was a name previously used in 2005.

You sure about that? I know that the alphabet is cycled through from front to back with male and female names, and then they begin again at A, but use different names starting with the same letter for new storms. Takes a very long time for a name to be reused.
