Powell rips Cheney: ‘My head isn’t exploding and I haven’t noticed any other heads exploding’

Former Vice President Dick Cheney’s memoir is released on Tuesday and it promises to give a lot of behind the scenes insight into the Bush administration.

But is it too tabloid-y? That’s a complaint coming from former Secretary of State Colin Powell. In an appearance on Sunday’s “Face the Nation” on CBS, Powell had a lot to say about how Cheney has been promoting his book.

“My head isn’t exploding and I haven’t noticed any other heads exploding in Washington, D.C. and the explosive part of the book is when Mr. Cheney says is explosive,” Powell said.

I remember during the iraq war at press conferences, powell stood in the back with his finger in his mouth...it was Cheney doing the strategy and doing the talking. Powell reminded me of CNN’s Bernard Shaw...hiding under the table as the bombs fell a mile away.

I am going to have to read this myself. I thought the two were friends. I am wondering if some of stuff Cheney said is taken out of context by a hostile media that wants to vilify Cheney.

Can someone parse his explanation on the Plame affair for me? Is Albert Gonzalez really to blame? How could the DOJ have gone on for 2 more years if Armitage copped to the outing up front? What would it have mattered how ‘forthcoming’ Cheney’s staff was if they already had their answer?

huh? how can powell comment on something he has never read? the book isn't even out yet? how can he respond to how the revelations in it affected him... if no one has read the book or seen the revelations yet?

Any admiration I had for Powell went ‘poof’ when he lavished praise and heartily endorsed the Kenyan for president proving that he has yet to heed the admonitions of MLK. For Powell, color of skin still trumps content of character.

So iow he hasn't read it yet and is relying on news reports to draw conclusions on what's in it.

And he's the one saying that Cheney may be behaving beneath the dignity of his former office?**

Based on what I've seen of Cheney (wicked sense of VERY dry humor), I think it's entirely possible that the whole "heads explode" comment was sarcasm.
