US bears some blame for casino attack, Mexico says

MEXICO CITY -- His voice cracking with emotion, President Felipe Calderon said Friday that the United States bore some blame for "an act of terror" by gangsters who doused a casino with gasoline and set a blaze that killed at least 52 people.

The attack Thursday in Monterrey, an industrial city of 4 million barely a two-hour drive from Texas, stunned Mexicans and seemed likely to mark a watershed in the country's intensifying war against criminal syndicates.

In a 20-minute televised address to the nation, Calderon gave an unusually blunt assessment of the causes of Mexico's surging violence before flying to Monterrey to place a wreath at the burned-out hulk of the Casino Royale.

He referred repeatedly to the attack as a terrorist act, elevating the conflict to a new level, at least linguistically, and casting it in terms of a broader struggle for control of Mexico. He said rampant corruption within his nation's judiciary and law enforcement bore some blame.

But in unprecedented, direct criticism of the United States, Calderon said lax U.S. gun laws and high demand for drugs stoked his nation's violence. He appealed to U.S. citizens "to reflect on the tragedy that we are living through in Mexico."

"We are neighbors, allies and friends. But you, too, are responsible. This is my message," Calderon said.

He called on the United States to "once and for all stop the criminal sale of high-powered weapons and assault rifles to criminals that operate in Mexico."

Hey Calderon, Why don’t you just close your side of the border? Build a fence.

Its true - we didn’t annex all of Mexico in 1848. So anything bad that happens in Mexico is our fault.

Fine, so Calderon and the Mexican government should want the same comprehensive, manned border fence I and so many other Americans want. It would end the flow of drugs from Mexico and the flow of guns from the US. Oh, and it would also end the flow of illegal aliens from Mexico into the US and, I suppose, of illegal aliens from the US into Mexico. Build the fence and man it - three big problems solved.

This ‘America’s insatiable demand for drugs’ argument is as phoney as the old ‘doing work Americans won’t’ was.

Based on http://www.census.gov/main/www/popclock.html there are 312,080,943 Americans.

According to http://www.numberof.net/number-of-drug-addicts-in-us/ 7 million, or according to my arithmetic skills, app 2% of US are drug addicts.

Mexico on the other hand has a population of 113,724,226 according to https://www.cia.gov/library/publications/the-world-factbook/geos/mx.html

Their drug addict population, according to http://www.narconon.org/drug-information/mexico-drug-addiction.html is 4.5 Million.

Using old school fifth grade math so please double check my work, that makes Mexico drug addicts app 3% of their general population.

The globalist tool of white guilt has been effective in the past. Let’s put an end to it. Check all accusations coming out of Mexico and be sure to let the congress representative know you ain’t falling for this crap anymore and he/she better not either.

Calderon has accomplished nothing in his so-called war on drugs and drug gangs. Mexico has no death penalty, and many officials are corrupt. Those who are not corrupt are being murdered.

If he really wants to clean up Mexico, he needs to institute the death penalty, declare martial law for a year or two, and tell those caught dealing in drugs that they will be executed on the spot, no questions asked. All those in jail for drug crimes aside from those convicted of taking drugs should be executed.

If this sounds Draconian, I doubt that anything short of these steps will work. Does Calderon really want to end his drug cartel problem? Or does he want all of that drug money to keep boosting the Mexican economy? Who knows?

Do you suppose Mexicans ever wonder what ;life would be like for them if they didn’t share a border with the US?

Probably like Ecuador or Bolivia. There would be no US to break into to find jobs and live better.

Did you ever wonder what the US would be like without Mexico on its southern border. What if we had another English speaking nation like Canada on that border. I know, no produce pickers, no gardeners, no housekeepers, etc. Just maybe we here in the US would be a lot better off. At least our Federal and state governments would not be spending hundreds of billions of dollars every year.

Another English speaking country on our southern border would be nice? As for produce-pickers and landscapers? Americans, the same folks who’ve always did it before Mexicans invaded. I never picked produce but I have done landscaping. Hard work never killed anyone. Imagine if in 1848 the United States decided to stay in Mexico. We’d be a super-giant country and Mexico wouldn’t be such a mess.
