Some of our old friends, like Peggy Noonan and George Will seem to have retired to their intellectual retreat and not noticed as the world has passed them by.

After you get a little older, you realize that people who are permanently fascinated with their own feelings invariably go off the rails. They can't help it. If you are your own North Star, you invariably wind up going in circles.
At some point, Peggy lost sight of whatever her navigational reference point was, and reoriented on herself. It's been nothing but this sophomoric drivel ever since. She's occasionally right, occasionally wrong, but invariably vapid.
If you don't stand for something, Peggy, you'll fall for anything. Or everything.
Peggy Noonan’s biggest problem is that her hormones are always working overtime and it, uhhhh, clouds her “vision”.
What comes from her is always pop-psychologizing masquerading as “commentary” and “analysis”.
Remember how deeply she was into the post-9-11 conceit that
FINALLY real men had inherited America? It’s that kind of over-conceptualizing that leads half-formed minds like hers
not to see someone like Barack Obama coming.
