We are getting in excess of a 1000 people per day moving to Texas.

I don't think those numbers are significant in comparison with illegal immigration. Those hordes are beyond numbering ... and you can't be sure where they end up, either. And they're off the economy. And so on. Like nailing Jell-O to a wall. All you know is, tons of them suddenly turn up in hospital ER's and in Houston schools.

Yes. We need someone who can reach across the aisle and work with the left. We can’t win in 2012 if put a candidate up there who only looks to the radical fringe of the base for their support. We need Rick Perry. /sarc(??????????)

I can see the headlines now - FREEPERS WEIGH IN - McCain Runs Again

It would be nice if folks stopped buying/propagating the scare stories about Perry and not looking at the "issues" to find out what the situation was on the ground at the time, and what the truth is, rather than the twisted versions of it.

Perry isn't my first choice, but he's way up there. I remember when Freepers would actually take time to be informed - these days, there are far too many knee-jerkers that become the Left's useful tools, either due to ignorance, or willingly as plants to cause doubts.

If a lot of Freepers get their way, there will be no acceptable Republican candidate and we might as well run McPain again.

Which was supported by most of us Texans. It was a choice not to punish children for the sins of their parents

Thanks for the bit of sanity. Too many Freepers are becoming useful tools who drink the Kool Aid, then lace it with stronger Kool Aid and spew it out here without a hint of reality - in effect they are becoming Democrats in 2 ways: They believe the crap dished out to them and they spread the crap as "God's Honest Truth".

While I would be more of a Palin fan if she were to get in and have some momentum, I would vote for Perry in a heatbeat and not feel I was merely goping for the lesser of 2 evils.

Ditto. It’s all being orchestrated to make Perry look unbeatable.

Why would a true Tea Party Conservative take a chance on a turncoat demrat, Gore campaign manager, global warming worshiper, anti “hate’ speech law signer, globalist, illegal immigration supporter etc.?

We already have true Constitutionalist conservatives running or about to run: Bachmann, Palin, Cain and West.

Perry employs propaganda as effectively as the Marxists.

As for you Perrybots out there, don’t tell me I’m repeating somebody else’s talking points. Tell me specifically what I said about the man above is not true. In debate your “talking point” argument is called a glittering generality. It’s only purpose is to avoid answering the hard questions.

I would bet money on the only response I get being silence. But, like the Marxists, the Perry crowd seems to be very angry. I suspect my comments will make some of their heads explode to the point they’ll be unable to resist calling me names. But they will not, because everything I said is true, be able to refute a thing I said.

Texas still has one of the best business climates in the US.

Isn’t that what the country needs as a whole?

My original post said attack Perry, just not my state with leftist crap, he was using crap put out by the Minnesota teacher's union to bash Texas and I called him on it.

Also, Ann Richards was a friend of mine and I loved her dearly so yeah, if you attack her personally I'm going to defend her. But trust me, there is very little you can say about her politics that I didn't say to her, but as a woman, she was 'cowboy' and in her words, "a hoot to be around" and I miss her.

Say what you will about LBJ, I even hate his freeway.

That’s an asinine argument. Yes, there are a lot of illegals in Texas, and that also contributes to the unemployment rate. But that in no way diminishes the strength of the Texas economy or the amazing job growth they have experienced. And THAT is the Texas miracle. If you want to complain about illegal immigration, go talk to your congressman - immigration is a federal responsibility. But that was not the topic at hand, so you are just using that to try to distract from the reality that right now, Texas has one of the best economies in the country.

If you want to save this nation for the future, we need to reverse Obamaism.

Perry’s not going to do that.

Everyone talks tough on the campaign trail. You need to look at their record to see what they’d really do.

You might want to go examine Perry’s record. It’s rather disappointing.
