Well, my reply is that she and her family would have been bankrupted, and millions of dollars in debt. Couple that with the fact the media was reporting on each and every one of those frivilous ethics lawsuits as if she were guilty, making national headlines out of them, and turning her name to mud (and they’d never ‘report’ when she was cleared of the suits), giving the public the impression she was the most corrupt politician in existence. So, had she just stayed and ‘taken it,’ she would have been both hugely in debt and politically obliterated.

She was given a terrible situation, and did the only thing she could. Folks that wanted her to stay in office and suffer the grim fate that had been orchestrated for her by her enemies and now voice disapproval of her unconventional action of resigning are disingenuous at best. They wanted her eradicated from the political scene to begin with, one way or another (and that includes a hefty percentage of the GOP establishment types, who’d never lift a finger to help her when she needed some support).

I know all of this. But to the common man in the street it looks to most like she cut and run. Before her brief stint as governor, SP was mayor of Wasilla and a city councilwoman from that town. Pretty thin resume.

My problem with GOP politics is this: (I am life long conservative Republican and veteran of all RR’s presidential campaigns)

Everyone wants to start off at the top and run for president. Would love to see SP take on Democrat Sen. Mark Begich in the future. Would love to see Michelle Bachmann run against Sen. Amy Klobuchar who is up this year. Would love to seen Paul Ryan run for Sen Herb Kohl’s seat who is retiring this year. Would love to see Thad McCotter take out either Sen. Stabenow or Levin in Michigan. Would love to see Herman Cain run for some other public office first before running for president. Would love to see Rick Santorum try to gain his old senate seat back like former Sen George Allen is doing in VA. I could go on and on, but you get my point. That’s the problem. Everyone wants to be chiefs not indians. Everyone wants to run for president. No wonder the Dems still control the senate and all of the good legislation passed by the House is DOA by the time Harry Reid gets a hold of it.
