Are Libyan Reports of Defeat LIES? (Actual Title: Falsified New York Times Middle East Reports)
The Sovereign Independent. ^ | August 22, 2011 | By By Stephen Lendman

Posted on 08/22/2011 9:03:57 AM PDT by Lazamataz

They appear daily like weeds on all topics. As a result, Times reports aren’t fit to read, let alone print. August 18 was no exception, publishing lies about Libyan insurgent victories.

On August 18, headlining, “Libyan Rebels Gain Control of Oil Refinery as Qaddafi Forces Flee,” Kareem Fahim’s article was pure Pentagon propaganda, duplicitously lying to readers.

Yet he said “(r)ebel fighters claimed complete control of a sprawling (Zawiyah) oil refinery, seizing one of (Gaddafi’s) most important assets after just three days of fighting and delivering the latest in a string of small victories that have suddenly put the rebels at Tripoli’s door.”

Reporting from Tripoli, independent Middle East/Central Asian analyst, Mahdi Nazemroaya refuted him, telling Progressive Radio News Hour listeners that:

– Gaddafi forces are winning;

– rebels are in disarray;

– the so-called National Transitional Council (NTC) is falling apart;

– Misrata was liberated from rebels;

– Tripoli is peaceful and calm, despite daily NATO bombing, willfully targeting civilians and nonmilitary sites;

– scattered fighting continues along routes to Tunisia and elsewhere;

– arteries between the two countries remain open;

– Intense Western propaganda wants to intimidate Gaddafi supporters to give up hope of prevailing;

– it’s had the opposite effect, in fact, galvanizing Libyans overwhelmingly behind Gaddafi, making him by far the most popular African/Middle East leader; and

– his forces control Gheryan, Sorman, Sabratha, and Zawiyah, its oil refinery and others; reports saying otherwise are lies; rebels are south of the city, not in it.

In the current state of the State Run Media, I would not at all be surprised to find out the news of the last 48 hours has all been false.

DTA posted, and this article appears to support it:

Romans would say, "nomen est omen" :-)

The aggression on Libya is a war by deception waged on all fronts from the get go. Whatever is reported is not true, and what is true is not reported.

The problem is that this fog of war is waged by league of morons.

Last night NATO carpet bombed Tripoli and caused massive civilian casualties, at least 2000 people were killed. Not a word of it on MSM.

The NATO plan was something like this. MSM creates fake impression that Rebels seized the power in Tripoli. Then Rebels invite NATO ground forces to circumvent UNSEC 1973. NATO ground forces do the actual fighting with Libyan government.

The problem with this plan - it flopped big time. Plan was leaked to Libyan government and Libyan Government informed population of staged victory planned for August 20th. Fake Tripoli 'news" shot is Qatar lost tactical advantage.

Among so called AQ rebels there are Qatari troops, (also not mentioned) and they walked right into the trap - they can not get out. MSM now has big problem to explain how AQ and Qatari troops are being pummeled if Gaddafi surendered\dead\fled to Venezula, or how Gaddafi son leads mop up of NATO scum if he is in AQ "custody".

Also note interesting take of propaganda war Libyan government is taking. They do not confront NATO propaganda by counter-claims. - they act to show how idiotic NATO propaganda is. NATO says Gaddafi fled, Daffy shows up in person. NATO says his son killed, son appears in person.

NATO says 10,000 mercenaries defend Daffy, Daffy opens up armories and arms civilians.

Daffy exposed NATO and so called "democracies" as bold faced liars of Nazi Germany type.

I am afraid that full scale ground war is only option for NATO.

Will U.S. send 30,000 pair of boots by October 1st?

Using the word falsified with New Your Times is redundant.

Have they been boldly lying to our face? Trying to create reality by reporting on it first? Worth considering.

Good old, old-fashioned, pro-Obama propaganda.

Where were these guys when Bush was in office?

I'm just wondering how they can report a victory by rebels, alone, if I'm hearing about overnight carpet bombing by NATO aircraft?

Pravda.ru, once a formerly state-run propaganda shop, has emerged as a leading reporter of actual truth.

It’s sad when we have to turn to the foreign press to get the truth about this country.....it’s like the tables have turned since the days of Radio Free Europe.

If there is any one more-telling indicator of America's problems, it is this.

More evidence of lies on the part of our press:

Global Research Editor's Note

There have been major development since the filing of this report. August 21 2011. Latest news from Tripoli from GR correspondent Mahdi Darius Nazemroaya.

Tripoli has been the object of extensive bombings of residential areas, creating and atmosphere of panic. Meanwhile, rebel forces have entered into Tripoli and there is fighting in the downtown area.

Rebel forces are not the decisive factor. The decisive force are the extensive NATO bombings.

Rebels are few in numbers. One suspects that highly trained NATO Special Forces are operating covertly within rebel ranks. Centre for Research on Globalization 21 August, 2011

When the Marxist didn’t rush out to take credit, I started wondering!

Thanks for the ping and the article!

Last I heard, the “rebels” had captured the capitol and were doing the moonwalk in jubilation.

Maybe Al Jazeera has the straight dope, Hillary says they are the bomb.

It was too dang odd that the Marxist didn’t rush to the TV to take credit.

Yes?

I think we were talking about this last week - it’s almost as though the American media has morphed into Radio Tirana from the 1980’s. The only thing missing is the Five-Year Plan grain harvest reports from Olga, Hero of Smolensk Tractor Collective Project #12.

Al Jazeera is mirroring everyone else.

No idea. I'm sure Quaddaphffiey (or whatever) will fall at some point. I'm just not sure if I believe the lamestream press. Little things here and there keep popping up to give me doubt.

They're not the bomb. But they do know where it's hidden.

Most of MSM is so corrupt it's worse than useless. Imho, it's actively involved in promoting Leftist propaganda and politicians.

The current inhabitant of the White House is making an issue of ousting Gaddafi, and he can't be allowed to be seen as a failure.
