RICHMOND Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli II (R) said he might run for the U.S. Senate in 2014, possibly setting up a race against one of Virginias most popular politicians, Democrat Mark R. Warner.
Cuccinelli, who garnered national attention for suing the federal government over the new health-care law, had said he would run for reelection or governor in 2013. But in an interview with The Washington Post, he said for the first time that he could instead run for the Senate.
In the interview, he accused Warner a former governor who has expressed frustrations with the workings of the Senate of failing to lead and challenge authority.
"I understand from people he and I both talk to that hes pretty frustrated with it," Cuccinelli said Thursday. But, he added, "I dont see him doing anything to change that system. He hasnt even tried."

Why is any reporter wasting their time talking about 2014?
Because Mark Warner is likely to get the boot in 2014 - when he is up for reelection.
Cuccinelli would mop the floor with the Comrade Warner. I’m so psyched to have this man as our attorney general!
good.
he’s a sharp guy.
First of all, in 2012, he'll be in the minority..the GOP will win at least 7 seats..so that's no fun.
Take at look at who's up in 2014..another 23 Dems...the GOp could pick up another 7 seats//giving them a filibuster proof Senate..so why would Warner want to run for thaty...and the Dem senate caucus..now greatly shrunk in 2014..will be far more hard left/liberal..dominated by the Schumer/Durbin/Boxer fringe...and Warner's NOT comfortable over there..
Good.
As a Virginian it is my fondest hope to see Mark Warner sent back to the private sector where he can resume using his political connections to make a fortune, just as he did with his first one. A much ballyhooed ‘moderate’ democrat, he went dark during the whole Obamacare thing except for his ‘aye’ vote. He can justifiably be said to have cast the vote that put that monstrous thing on the back of this economy. A pox on him and his Democrat brethren.

How 2014 turns out depends upon 2012. If Zero gets the boot, it may end up an anti-GOP election (since it will be difficult to swiftly turn around the current economic situation). However if by some horrible chance Zero is re-coronated, 2014 will be the 6th year elections which almost always tend to be a bloodbath for the party in the WH (1938, 1946, 1958, 1966, 1974, 1986, 2006).
Ken Cuccinelli is a VA hero...but this WAPO reporter twisted his words...Ken never said it.
He has stated that he plans to run again for AG but has not ruled out running for Governor.
You’re right about that. Debt-caused recessions tend to last around ten years.

Haha. I had to look that up. Tony Cuccinello. Lost the AL batting title by 1 point.
I don’t agree that it’s a waste of time.
In 2012, 23 Dems are up for re-election but only 10 Reps.
In 2014, 20 Dems are up for re-election but only 13 Reps.
Some Dem Senators up for re-election in 2014 : Tim Johnson (SD), Max Bacus (MT), Mary Landrieu (LA), Mark Begich (AK), Jeanne Shaheen (NH), and Kay Hagan (NC).
I expect at least 5 of those 6 you cited to come back to us (except for Shaheen, although she is far from safe). Begich is the most endangered.
