SAN FRANCISCO (AP) Two men were shot and wounded in the parking lot of Candlestick Park after a preseason NFL game Saturday night between the San Francisco 49ers and the Oakland Raiders, police said.
The shootings occurred around 8 p.m., shortly after the 49ers' 17-3 victory, police Sgt. Michael Andraychak said.

I see my hands' True Life Trivia Low Volume Ping List On? Off? Private Reply Please
One day while at work I suddenly had the urge to see a matinee. I didn't go to movies often but walked to the Termont Street Theater. I didn't know what they were showing and I had not heard of the movie when I saw the marque. It was The Warriors. The next day I won $68 on a WRKO call in contest. I won't tell how much I scarfed up betting on Stretch "The Wonder Dog" at Wonderland that weekend. How can I complain about the hand life has dealt me? I can't.

“10 to 1 the shooter was a Raiders fan”
The original thug fan base, before they took over the Dodgers as well.

And some guy was found nearly beaten to death in the men’s room.
It was reported that the one shot and the one beaten have life threatening injuries and may be classified as homicides.
Sad!

You are most likely correct. I haven't been to most of the ballparks where professional football is played. In fact I've only been to 5. But the worst fans I've ever seen are in Oakland. They seem to take pride in being obnoxious. And if you are wearing the jersey or hat of the opposing team you take your life in your hands in Oakland. I'm surprised the NFL has allowed this to continue in Oakland. The fans of the Raiders take this as a badge of honor. I kid you not.
You could wear the jersey of the opposing team in San Francisco, San Diego, Denver or Seattle and not fear for your life. But in Oakland, it's dangerous.
It's a pathetic situation in Oakland, in more ways than one.

It’s true. The bartenders in SF have a pejorative phrase for troublemakers — “Raiders fans”.

If Ca would get in step with the rest of the nation on law abiding citizens having CCW, a lot less of this would happen.
An armed society is where the criminals knwo they will be dead if they assult the wrong legally carrying CCW.

A 2008 article sums it up:
A fall tradition Chargers-Raiders, plenty of police Police and security presence is higher than at all other Charger games and beer sales are cut off at half time not after 3Q like all other home games in an effort to head off Raider violence.
To: newzjunkey
Wow....I never thought that there would be another team that made Eagles fans look like angels! Just damn.
To: DryFly
The reports I hear are that the shooting victim was wearing a shirt dissing the 49ers so the shooter was likely a 49er fan.

If Ca would get in step with the rest of the nation on law abiding citizens having CCW, a lot less of this would happen. No NFL stadium allows concealed carry and it has nothing to do with the laws. It's just private policy.
To: ConservativeStatement
Yep! This is just the pre-season. By the time we get to the playoffs, things could get interesting.
By November 2012, election time, things could be very interesting.
To: truthguy
I'm surprised the NFL has allowed this to continue in Oakland. I'm surprised too, along with what goes on in Philly. NFL games are no longer a sure sellout (even playoffs) and the league will go the way of the NBA if it comes to be perceived as a sport preferred by thugs.

The shootings happened in the Parking Lot, not the secured area of the stadium.

Sorry, meant to also add that only the ‘beatings’ occurred in the stadium. But you have to realize that a CCW would require much better decorum in the parking lot. These people are animals and law abiding citizens should not have to submit to the lowest common denominator of this crap.

The NFL makes a lot of money off of the Oakland Franchise. They will let these animals do whatever they want. Afterall, it is the Police and normal citizens who have to deal with it in the end, not the NFL. They are laughing all the way to the bank.

The shootings happened in the Parking Lot, not the secured area of the stadium. Yeah, to a guy walking back to his car and the beating of a guy nearly to death happened in the bathroom.
Concealed carry can be a lifesaver in many instances, but they aren't going to be the societal paradigm changer that I see ascribed to them so often on FR.
Most of these crimes are done by people who have the impulse control of a rabid squirrel and the forethought abilities of a fruit fly.
The consequences of them pulling a gun are the furthest thing from their mind when they do it.
Ever spent much time in the ghetto watching people cross the street? Everybody knows you get hit by a truck and you could die, yet they dart into the street constantly like deer on a rural road. No forethought, even on that rudimentary level. None.
I mean all their enemies carry pistols and that doesn't stop them from shooting up a birthday party.
Sure, you'll cure a symptom here and there with CCW, but it won't make much of a dent in the problem.
To: triumphant values
Good points. Agree with you that the ‘root cause’ is the problem. I am simply not going to be a victim of it. I spent too many years hanging ‘it’ out there to be now left alone in peace. So, I don’t do crowds anymore.
